Iam trying to collect information for my book... Iam not too up to date on weaponry. Obviously.

If we have warheads in our arsenal, that means we can deploy them by just about any means right? Attach them to a rocket, blast them from a ship or sub, or drop them in a bomb? Right? Or am I mistaken?

The premise of the book is civil war, west is threatening to bomb the east... whats the heaviest nuke that could reach that distance by rocket?

The B83 has a yeild of 1-2 MT, I'm not sure if it is deployable on a rocket. You may wish to reask your question as a SAM is a Surface to Air missle intended for comparitively short ranges to intercept airborn targets.

A bit of clarification needed here...
Sam's (Surface to Air Missiles)are for shooting down planes & missiles. I would think the Patroit system is the heaviest on the ground , while the Standard 2 is the biggest sea based system.
When you start talking Warheads & blasting I think you talking about Nuc's

The us armed forces have a massive arsenal of all types of nukes , they can be delivered to anwhere by airplane , missle ,large calibre howitzers (I KID YOU NOT), ships and probaly the most awesome of all submarines , these subs are nucleared powered and can stay down deep below for months , they cant be detected , and when they launch a missle , it will split into many warheads , one sub , in theory could wipe out an entire country by itself

Check out the first link...it is a drop down menu with a full description of each US missle. Surface-to-air missile (SAM) or ground-to-air missile (GAM) is a missile designed to be launched from the ground to destroy aircraft. It is a type of anti-aircraft system.

Land-based SAMs are deployed on mobile launchers, Ship-based SAMs are...on ships.
