Yes. I live 20 minutes south of Nellis AFB. I can tell you, from conversations I've had at the officers' club, that flying officers are sent back to their home air field if their performance is sub-standard and constitutes a clear and present danger to others. And that is true, no matter which nation they are flying for.
As a retired Navy officer I also know that is true at Fighter Town which is now located at Naval Air Station Fallon, Nevada. That's the training school made famous in the movie "Top Gun", and was formerly located at Naval Air Station Miramar, California.

I'm sure a few have gotten warnings. If you haven't already, check out "Fighter Pilot: Operation Red Flag". Pretty cool DVD, following an F-15 pilot through his Red Flag training. I know some were grounded for near-mid-air collisions. Not sure about being sent home early though.

I don't think so. If anything they would be called in by their commanding officer for questioning to why they are performing poorly. This of course would be after the red flag.
