Is this a good thing or a bad thing for our country? Does our president care?

Then why do we mourn their loss? Shouldn't we be expecting it, and happy they did their job?

can I assume that none of the people her comparing being in the armed forces with getting into a car, have never lost a family member to war?
PS. I realise that those who have lost someone to eg a drunk driver can quite rightly, feel that they have suffered a similar loss.
Any loss is terrible and none are a good thing.

Only about 1% of the soldiers in Iraq or Afganistan have been wounded or killed. Overall thats pretty light compared to other wars. My division deployed with 20,000, only 87 KIAs. So no, its not really a good chance. It is less then most wars so far. So in that respect, it is better for our country, we are improving. Not to mention that the survivability rate of wounded soldiers has increased greatly due to body armor, medical care and extraction.

I believe the President cares about those of us who get killed. Nobody wants people to get killed. Sometimes it happens, and people in power, from and E-4 to the President have to make those hard decesions.

Less than 1% chance of a Soldier/Marine becoming a KIA.

And no, anyone looking forward to funerals of my fallen brothers is NOT a "true American." I'd invite you to move to France or Iran where your jollies can be fulfilled in accordance with the rest of your kind.

considering they have less of a chance dying in combat than they do dying in a car accident back home i'd say no.

we've had fewer casualities in iraq in 4 years than we had on ONE beach at D Day. i know you lefties hate the truth and use the military when it suits your socialista agenda.

thanks!

yeah love the reply above! good answer! N'oleans the murder capital of the country over the last year! and that ain't a combat zone!!! or is it?

I teach several criminal justice high school courses, and I can tell you that Detroit, like New Orleans, has a higher murder rate than they do in Iraq. At least our brave soldiers get to carry a gun and wear camouflage. Do that in most of the USA and you get arrested on the spot.

Dont you have just an equal chance of being killed in a car accident????

Of course they have a chance of being KIA. But they still do their job above the danger.... Do you stop driving your car just because you might get in an accident????

You look forward to their funerals, huh??? Thats alright, I look forward to yours too....
