What do our soldiers do? They have to go to the bathroom and do their thing. How do they do it and what do they do when they are in battle?

This has always been one of those faint rumors that I've heard off and on, but never seen the reg (nor known *where* to find the reg) ---- If an officer were to win the lottery, inherit a large sum, or somehow make a lot of money, then would they be forced to resign their commission over conflict of interest concerns? Thank you.

I know 12 month deployments have been extended to 15. But, can the army keep a soldier longer than 15 months if they suddenly decide to do so? Or, is 15 the max?

Can it be argued that by showing a willingness to sacrifice American soldiers in an obscure place like Vietnam, the Soviet Union was sent a clear message not to test American resolve in more strategically vital places around the globe?.

I'm a 28YO, male, college graduate, and I also have an MBA. I realized I'm not Joe Corporate nor have I satiated my desire to serve that I've felt since I was young. I am an African American and have been told that I may not be promoted because of race. Is this true? I have no children and am mot married. I have family, but would not mind being sent to serve in the sandbox for a while. I'm 5'11 205 and have been told that although I have a medium build my weight may be an issue. Any thoughts. I'd like to serve in a combat role, but only as an officer. Any thoughts on my chances and options? Any perspective would be greatly appreciated as I'd like to join soon.

I hang out with a lot of Vets. Most of them are Marines. Yes we all obsessed with our Marines. We sit around my campfire and drink a few. I'm not a former Marine, I'm former Army. And I'm proud of it. However at the end of evening several of them will say "Semper Fi" I know what it means. But I'm not a Marine. Is it appropriate for me to say it back? I never have. I have too much respect for it. Just ignore the question if you think it's too silly.

Just saw something on TV showing young men and women entering the Naval Academy in Baltimore. Those who were wearing glasses seemingly weren't wearing their own -- they each had HUGE glasses on. What's the deal? Thanks.

Do you think the war in Iraq is necessary? Don't you think it is truly "unhuman" to capture other people's village, other people country, destroying other people homes, their peaceful lives, kill the innocent childrens? Don't you even realize there is nothing, absolutely nothing good about war. How about a wife lost his husband, a father lost his son, a baby lost her parents?
Please do something about it. Even if we can't stop it, but at least make them hear us.

I am thinking about either becoming a SWO or a Submarine officer in the Navy. Could you give me an idea of how both are in regards to:

How long the Deployments or at sea you are
Promotion
Quality of life
Levels of responsibility

Also anything else that anyone who has had experience in either of these two fields I would be very appreciative of your insight. Another thing is do Submarines ever go into port, I have seen pictures of them in foreign ports but it seems to me to defeat the purpose of a sub (well unless if there acting as a nucleur detterent).

A question for the Enlisted crowd...

Think back to Boot Camp... Do you have any funny or bizarre stories or memories from your Boot Camp experience, no matter what branch?

You can give us the short version if you don't want to type a lot of lines...

I'm NAVY, so at Great Mistakes...

I saw a guy freak out and lock himself into an Ambulance when we were outside during a marching drill.

During intake, I saw another guy break out of the line and run out of the building into waist high snow drifts when they anounced they were going to do a Urinalysis. He was led back into the building in handcuffs a few minutes later by MP's

A guy tried to sneak cookies from the Galley past the CC and had to slowly eat the cookies in front of the whole division and then was dropped for hours, and one guy tried to hide his dirty underwear in his inspection stack and got dropped and humiliated for quite awhile!

How about you?

What is your strange and/or funny Boot Camp story?

Why why why in this country are the polls made so difficult and poorly monitored. Also when only 30% of the population vote and 51% of that number decide the election you get 15% of the country deciding the outcome.
POLLING should be done at tax time you get a form with your W2 and you vote then and all who file vote.

There was a little town outside the base. However, I can not remember the name either. I believe it started with a B. I could be wrong. There were no other towns in the area.

Do something like Dick C. did. After the congress sent a budget to the white house that called for troop withdraw Dick C. went on NBC and said that G.W. would veto it and then congress would send another would send another through with out the troop withdraw. Thats what happened, just like Dick C. said.

So why not threaten to withdraw, If we did their would be a huge problem their, the extreemst would rule and the world would have to do something, If more troops from other countrys were involved it would make a huge differnce. They have the troops (like the fomer Ussr and china). Do it just like Dick C. did with the budget and tell the world we will if they don't help. Other countrys don't help much because we are their.

Not when it kills civilians, obviously. But is using this against an opposing army against the "rules of war"? It seems to me that against a force with superior technology and weaponry, it's an understandable tactic.

German Americans make a great amount of the American people. In ww2, were they allowed to fight in the army? If so, how much could they have been, and how did they feel?
Sergeant Aderholt, Private Sammy Schwarzer and Corporal Mahler shooting on Johann Mueller and Franz Schmidt sounds kinda awkward...

Why do people pick one side or the other over the Iraq War? Some say pull everyone out and come home now. Others say keep at it....status quo. Those seem to be the options we must choose from, yet I believe they are the WORST two options. Your thoughts?

My husband and I were married in April. We got our BAH and BAS within a few weeks. He is now in Japan and I am in the states in San Diego. I moved here after he left. The Navy required that we send in a lease and proof of my new residence by the 15th of June or they would pretty much say that I dont need my unaccompanied BAH. We sent it in on the 14th of June just to be safe. Then we got a paycheck on the 1st of July that was only three hundred dollars. Our old BAH rate was around eight hundred dollars and our normal pay was around 1100 a check. Since no one would give us a straight answer on where the money went I am guessing that the money they took was the money that they would have paid us for BAH. What I am asking is...will we get backpay for all of last month since our pay was off? Also I am under the impression that most of the time backpay is paid on the first. So was wondering if it may not come until the 1st of august. Opinions and expertise welcome.
