My husband and I were married in April. We got our BAH and BAS within a few weeks. He is now in Japan and I am in the states in San Diego. I moved here after he left. The Navy required that we send in a lease and proof of my new residence by the 15th of June or they would pretty much say that I dont need my unaccompanied BAH. We sent it in on the 14th of June just to be safe. Then we got a paycheck on the 1st of July that was only three hundred dollars. Our old BAH rate was around eight hundred dollars and our normal pay was around 1100 a check. Since no one would give us a straight answer on where the money went I am guessing that the money they took was the money that they would have paid us for BAH. What I am asking is...will we get backpay for all of last month since our pay was off? Also I am under the impression that most of the time backpay is paid on the first. So was wondering if it may not come until the 1st of august. Opinions and expertise welcome.

I am not real sure where the discrepency is though I would guess that your BAH you were getting the 800 a month got stopped before your new BAH was started. Which would be why you only got the three hundred. They will make up for any errors in pay but it will be up to your husband to get it striaght with the pay office. Which can be very frustrating. When you owe the army money they take it as soon as they realize it. When they owe you money it could take awhile. My husbands first deployment was to Bosnia. We got a no pay due for a whole month. I asked him about it and he investigated it. Come to find out the Army was charging us for his travel costs to Bosnia. It took going to the IG to get it straight. Mean while I went to get a personal loan to help us get by till they made up the pay. He was only an E-1 at the time so we didnt have a savings to fall back on.

you may not actually GET San Diego BAH since you say you moved there on your own. the military will not pay for you to move to another city if he received unaccompanied Orders, or if you got married after he had orders.

if the paperwork was not submitted by the 20th, it will not have been processed in time.
