As nice as this sounds - most probably not. There simply isn't enough energy from the sun in a reasonably small area. Perhaps the solar energy could be utilized to recharge more advanced battery systems in the future and this could possibly provide enough energy for a relatively short commute back and forth to work.
However, I do seriously doubt we will still be burning fossil fuels as our primary transportation, despite the advances and technology, 43 years from now.

Doubtful...they are more likely to electric (batteries) drawing power from more nuclear plants, more wind powered turbines, etc.....but solar cells cant collect enough energy to power a practical vehicle
