The public has experienced war through the lens of Hollywood and CNN.

As glad as I am that they have not experienced it's reality, they have pursued conflict avoidance and believe that all can be well if we just talk but do not understand that bullies and terrorists prey on the weak and have no desire to talk, except to recover from defeat.

They view war through the same lens they see a fist fight and have come to this belief it should "fair." Unfortunately they don't understand that "fair" causes more deaths.

"If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck."

Its not that the american public is against fighting a war. We wish to see it fought the right way. There are more terrorists in Afghanistan and Iraq now, than before the invasion. Instead our government should focus on fighting the war on terror in a realistic way, such as finding and taking out terror cells that pose threats the diplomacy and special forces, not invasion. Our allies are greatly diminishing, and because of that, our information on terror decreases. We have basically shot ourselves in the foot.

I think it goes to a whole society who has changed since WWI and WWII. Lets face it, live is much easier in many ways. Most of us don't have to get up at the crack of dawn and go feed the animals then spend a backbreaking day in the fields or at the factory. In fact, we have folks to do our lawns, drive-in to cook our food, and laundrymats to wash our clothes. We are gradually getting away from doing menial tasks because we can now pay for them to be done. We are not learning the valuable lesson that sometimes hard work and sacrifice is necessary; that it is required in times like these. Our world moves at light speed now and instead we expect results to "war" in days, not years like WWII. Just like all the video games we love to play instead of running outside playing GI Joe, seeing just how difficult "taking that hill is" using your muscles and mind together, like use to happen. Unrealistic expectations. Scary....

It's television my friend, now that the people can actually see what goes on, they want nothing to do with the savage nature of real war.

I'm wondering if you or "John T, Top Contributor" have been in such a war, or have had a loved on in one, or even lost someone in such a war. My friends, it isn't easy.

Because no one wants to offend anybody, no one wants to be politically incorrect.
