Why do people pick one side or the other over the Iraq War? Some say pull everyone out and come home now. Others say keep at it....status quo. Those seem to be the options we must choose from, yet I believe they are the WORST two options. Your thoughts?

A problem has a multitude of possible solutions but the result must be the same. The real question is about the result. What's the result that the American people wants? Do you want to help or do you want to control the area?

The problem is we have stirred up a hornets nests and its very hard to fight something like the mess we have made. If the war was conducted correctly form the start we might have more options but we are stuck in a hole we are still fighting out of. I don't want to hear from people that we can do this and this. There is not winning this war, we are smack dam in the middle of a civil war about to explode. People who have seen news coverage have no idea whats really going on over there. If you don't have a CIB or even a CAB, you dont know jack. People who do and have been there and fight there know that winning this war is long gone.We are fighting a civil war which we will soon see is lost as well. There is no stay till its won.If we would have conducted the war better then treating it like past wars we might have done better. Theres nothing more then pull our troops out and saving what face with have left in this world.people can say i dont know what i am talking about but I have been there you havnt seen what we have seen on a day in day out basic. I have been there for 3 1/2 years in 3 tours and going on a fourth. If you have fought on the ground you know there no chance, but only to survive till you can go home. You can quote who ever you want saying we can win this, but truth in the pudding. We wont win.We need to stop agrue in congress and they need to do what we elected them for, they need to quite this political correct stuff and do their jobs.Bushes rateing is 17% and the rest of the country is waiting for our elected officals to do what their payed to do and fight for our soliders and quite being scared of bush and stop the blame game.

My option is neither one of those.

First of all we need to understand that the Iraq War is over. I think Bush was right when he said mission accomplished. We had clear expectations for the war and met them.

What we are doing now is a peacekeeping mission. Look back at WWII. The war was over in 1945, but we occupied Japan and Germany many years after that. That is where we are now in respect to Iraq.

I think if our involvement over there was correctly named, we would have more support at home and around the world.

I think that we need to have some clear outcomes identified for this occupation, just like we did for the war, just like the Marshall Plan did for post-WWII Europe. Where can I go to find the "Bush Plan" for Iraq?

I agree with you - this seems to be an issue with no middle ground, either immediate withdrawal or stay the course.
I don't believe either of these options is a viable solution to the concern.
I believe we should either fight this war - REALLY fight this war to win with defeat not an option - or we should get the hell out. Our young soldiers are dying over there while our representatives quibble and argue, and that's ridiculous.
Either the country gets behind a victory and supports this war, or we simply accept defeat and, once again, reneg on our commitments and leave the people to the mercy of the inevitable slaughter.

this war is over!
it has been over for a long time! all we are doing now is rebuiding Iraq and putting into place a democratic government. If we leave the insurgents will see it as a victory on their part which is why i say we stay

If the US Army Special Forces were running everything like in Afgahnistan we would have won by now. That is what I propose.
