As Commander in Chief the president holds the highest rank in the military. So after leaving the "service" in January '09 could there be a loophole by which he could be racalled into military service and demoted to 2nd Lt., for dereliction of duty, and put on an infantry platoon in Iraq? That would be justice.

I am also wanting to go to school during my service. If I had to serve actively for a couple months, that'd be fine, but I fully intend on staying mainly focused on school. I'm attending law school next year and don't want to delay going to and finishing law school to do this. Does anyone know a solution? Service in the Reserves for a 2 year term would be ideal, if possible.

Additionally, do you think joining now would get me sent to Iraq?

I'm enslisting in a bout a year, but I was curious as to how some of you out there with the experience became officers? did you start out as an e-1 or actually start out as an officer? When i do enlist I will become an e-3 after basic, but I want to go as far as possible with my career.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

I am currently in the navy, my time to re-enlist happens in 7 days. I have worked in my dept for 4 years and love the job that I have the problem started this evening when they decided to move me to the flight deck and do security which will totally take me out of the division ive been in for 4 years. Right now as it stands, I am pretty much my own boss, but with Security working on the flight deck, I will have very long hours, work 3 days on, 3 days off, wont hardly get to see my wife, will never have time to study for the asvab to advance and do something else. I wanted to strike AG but found that this rate is closed. Im really at a crossroad because I make good money but at the same time the sacrifices I will have to make just to get re- enlistment bonus or make the money I make doesnt seem worth it. Im not sure which direction I should take. Does anyone out there have any suggestions for me or who I should talk to? Ive tried the career counselor but they are no help really...

This video sadly tells a different story. It should not be watched if you are squemish but what it says to me very clearly is that it is time to get our troops out of Iraq before their morals goes further into the ground. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nL5vtXuQrYY another version of this same incident can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZY5rA1YuPd4

Hello everyone! I just wanted to ask you all a question if I may. I work around a lot of men and woman that were once or still are in the Military. I have this friend that has been telling me that they'll be deployed for a total of two years which is something that I've never heard of. When I asked the Military young men and women that I work with they said that at the most has deployed young men and woman for no more than a year and a few months. But when I asked her again she still stuck to her story of two years. Is she lying?

The war supporters are parroting the line that the troop surge is just now in place. Assuming for the moment that all the additional soldiers are finally there, my question is whether the buildup has been linear or concave. That is, is whatever that happened in the past few weeks to complete the escalation actually significant or did the vast bulk of the surge occur early on and whatever happened recently just minor additions around the edges? There is an obvious motivation for the administration to draw out for as long as possible the surge being complete: whenever things are going bad they can just say that the surge has not yet been completed in order to deflect criticism. Sure it is a cynical view, but with this administration's track record I would not be surprised in the least if something along these lines were true. I have no idea of the actual numbers or facts on the ground so any help would be appreciated.

How many of you have read the article on www.military.com and does it change your opinion to know that he has been over 4 times and all those deployments since 2001 equal only 10 months in the country on the ground. Most deployments are 1 solid year and some are longer. Also that he received a deferment of deployment last year and knew that this was coming so asked for an exemption from deployment which was reviewed and denied. Do any of the supports change their opinion with the new information ? why or why not?

Soooo Ive been with my boyfriend for over 3 years now and he joind the navy, he left in april. We did have plans to get married at the end of the year. I called him while intoxicated the other night and told him about how upset i was about him being gone and how i miss him a real lot. Now he decided that we should wait untill after his first deployment to get married bc he dosent think i can handle it. Hes afraid im going to leave him bc it "happens alot". The worst part is that he has 6 months of school then who knows when he will be deployed?!? Is this a normal thing for new sailors to go through and why is he all of a sudden insecure? anything helps thanks
