Internal bleeding, major organs, arterties that lead to vital organs....of course, it all depends on the location of the gun shot wound. A shot to the brain stem will automatically drop you like a sack of potatoes....

actually both see the bullet is tiny so imagine a jet plane flying at now imagine it a size of a bullet but same speed it will do some damage. but in some cases the bullet will expand when hitting the target or as the m16 the bullet is small but once the bullet hits you it turns to shrapnel and all the little pieces go all over the place inside you. theres many thing that can kill involving a gun the main thing is if the weapon is weak it probably kill's by the bullet doing something to you when it hits if it's a 50 caliber it will kill with the force of impact

A round from firearm can kill you in 3 different ways. The first and most effective is massive shock and damage to the central nervous system, in other words a shot to the brain or upper part of the spine. The second is that the lungs are pierced and they collapse and you suffocate. And the third and most common is from hydraulic failure where massive internal bleeding lowers you blood pressure so that no blood and therefore no oxygen gets to the brain.

The first is nearly always instantaneous, the second normally takes the longest and the third and most common will vary greatly with incapacitation times since so many factors are involved with the blood loss.

Depending on the weapon, death is caused by:

1. Mushrooming of the bullet, which causes internal damage and severe bleeding.
2. Shock
3. The round hitting a bone and that causes the bone to tumble and travel the bone.
4. Location of impact, i.e., direct hit to brain or heart.

I'm not going to guess. By the way, evolution has nothing to do with the soul and God. Evolution comes from inheritable traits through natural selection. That being said, neither is conceived only made up. "Science Geek: The human mind evolved to believe in God and a soul. Lower primates likely do not have these beliefs, how is evolution the wrong term here?" -you No madam you are wrong. Like I and Science Geek have said, God and soul is not inherited. Quick example for you. -People are not born with Religion, the belief in a soul, Math, writing, reading, science, and time. All of those are learned. This would be correct though. -The human mind evolved, and through it the idea of God and soul was created. It cant be said that the mind evolved to believe in God because the mind can't evolve with ideas, only natural selection.

hi gunshot death is caused by several means, one of them overall body shock inflicted by massive pressure wave produced by a bullet going through the body. other reasons are bleeding wounds of inner organs, or the destruction of essential organs, ie a headshot. longterm combination of the above mentioned makes it even worse.thus you are either:
dead immediately upon impact /head shot/
hurt too severely to survive to the medical facility large bleeding wounds, heart hits, liver hits -internal bleeding
suffering immediate neural shock in case of torzo hit.

poorly stabilized pistol shots often ricochet after hitting the first bone in the way and inflict damage worse than a fullmetal jacket bullet that simply passes through the body.

They usually bleed to death. What type of bullet that is used is the real problem. If a hollow point is used, the bullet goes into the body in a very small hole and it comes out with a huge hole and all the organs with it!
