During last night's Democratic debate, all the candidates said that if they were elected, they would get rid of the military's 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' policy for gay soldiers. 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' will be replaced by the new policy, 'Don't Tell Me You're Wearing Those Boots With That Gun.'"
Whazt you think?

I am a mother of tow children and a wife of a soldier, I have wanted to join the military for sometime now. Everytime I mention it to my husband he always has a reason why I shouldnt. Whether it be an unstable life for the kids ( with two parents in the military) or to it possibly destroying our marriage. I want to do this, but I dont want to destroy the family I have and love. Any thoughts?

In my area (Mt Clemens) the young people say "NO" to joining the military. 70% of the American people are against the Iraq war.

Hey my name is Phil

I was just wondering what your opinion is; should reporters and the media be allowed at the frontlines?

All of this anti-war feeling is probably fuelled by the media. First, they lie to the public saying something like "if we don't invade, 'X' will happen!", and then they turn around and start saying "we need to pull out!".

If there had been reporters like there are today at the eastern trench-front in 1916, or reporters blabbing away about how the battle to crush facism in the 40's costing 50 million lives, would those wars have lasted long?

Is it the reporters and their constant negative media, or have the western nations lost the will to fight for whats right?

After all, the only thing worse than war is to not be willing to fight for anything, eh!

(PS Iraq is not right, Afghanistan is though. What the devil are you doing there...)

In meeting with the recruiter we were told that pay starts in Basic training, but the direct deposit may take a couple of weeks. But, my wife had to sign a paper with information for dependents and one of the items on that paper stated that I may not be paid during training. Is this true? I am talking about the NAVY.
Thanks.

When we hear about US casualties in Iraq, are we only hearing about those who die on the field, or are those who are evacuated but die later counted in the figures as well?

I have a 72 hour emergency kit in my house that i learned how to make from the RedCross, and i also have lots of code red emergency batteries with a 20 year shelf life, i can tell from Hurricane Katrina that most people don't have an emergency plan in place for when they need it, so i'm wondering are you ready for an emergency?

I saw on telly that when President Putin entered a room the two soldiers on either side of the door saluted, but tilted thier heads away from him, then slowly raised it. What is the custom for this?

I'm an honorably discharged Navy LT, currently in the IRR. I was a SWO in the Navy. So I have a lot of the qualifications an equivalent officer in the USCG would have (OOD and EOOW). At any rate, I know you can apply to laterally transfer when you're active, but what about when you're in the IRR? The recruiters in the USCG seem really slow to respond. I'm also interested in the reserves as an officer. The recruiting website for the USCG reserves seems aimed at enlisted though.
