I do. I have a week's worth of MRE's water and bleach/iodine to make potable water. Flashlights and emergency candles, emergency meds, a large first aid kit. I also have some emergency routes planned out if public transit goes out. I live in NYC so it's pretty prudent.

With every day pass, our country is getting into more and more trouble. The inflation, unemployment and falling value of dollar are the main concern for our Government but authorities are just sleeping, they don’t want to face the fact. Media is also involve in it, they are force to stop showing the real economic situation to the people. I start getting more concern about my future as well as my family after watching the response of our Government for the people that affected by hurricane Katrina.
According to recent studies made by World Bank, the coming crisis will be far worse than initially predicted. So if you're already preparing for the crisis (or haven't started yet) make sure you watch this video at http://www.familysurvival.tv and discover the 4 BIG issues you'll have to deal with when the crisis hits, and how to solve them fast (before the disaster strikes your town!) without spending $1,000s on overrated items and useless survival books.

I have a kit made by CERT, I also have my own home preparations that will hopefully see me through 6-weeks. Water may be tricky, but I do know how to purify the abundant streams, lakes in my area. My last emergency plan consists of a trusty 12-gauge, at least 500 rounds of ammunition and a rural farm to bug out to. Yea, I may be a survivalist but that means I will be that much better off if the government temporarily fails to retain order after a disaster.

This is a good question. You know I am really not all together ready for a disaster like Katrina. I need to get in touch with the Red Cross and make me a 72 hour emergency kit. You know I tend to put things off because I think it will never happen to me. That is totally the wrong type of thinking. I do have some things like can goods, kerosene heater and fuel, Shake flashlights in all the rooms and candles. I do have a first aid kit and bandages. But I need to be prepared better thanks to your question. Thanks

Well when hurricane Ivan hit florida, the governor was smart enough to order an evacuation of all citizens from the effected areas Before the hurricane hit.
So no emergency supplies were needed.
So I decided to go visit mom and dad for a week.

I do. If you live in a well populated area then 72 hour rations is fine. I live in a small town of 1800 so if something large happens we will be the last on the list for assistance so my family has a set up for two weeks. Know first hand that even if the Red Cross or state/ Fed gov. says they will be there don't count on it. They go where the media goes.

I know it's something to be safer than sorrier about- but I havn't. This question has made me think this morning and I will put one together. I live in South East Va and though me may not get too many direct hurricane hits or tornados- we get nasty nor-esters and the skirts of hurricanes. Thanks for the questions. 'Tis the season.

Yes. My husband and I are both Army Medics so we have enough food, water, and emerg supplies plus a lot of medical supplies. It's is something that we take very seriously.
