During last night's Democratic debate, all the candidates said that if they were elected, they would get rid of the military's 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' policy for gay soldiers. 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' will be replaced by the new policy, 'Don't Tell Me You're Wearing Those Boots With That Gun.'"
Whazt you think?

Last nights debate was a republican debate, and the majority said that don't ask don't tell is working fine, and it would be inappropriate to change the policy while we are at war.

First, let me just say that that was hilarious. I'm going to have to use that one sometime.

Secondly, Don't Ask, Don't Tell is an inefficient policy. Other countries have zippo problems with openly gay soldiers, and historically, some homosexuals have been the fiercest fighters. In addition, every time you cut someone out of the military program because of their sexual preference, you cut out someone who may have saved one of their comrade's life for a trivial reason. We shouldn't be trying to reduce our volunteer numbers for stupid reasons.

Either permit a thing or don't. Don't ask, Don't tell is not a policy, it is an evasion that encourages people to intentionally deceive the people they are expected to trust with their lives. I am not a soldier but to me that sounds counter productive.

I dont understand why woudl anyone need to say....Im gay

OR

even Im straight

you're in the military for a reason and that reason is not for people to care about your sexual orientation.

I dont really care if you are gay or straight, but why do we have to talk about it so much?

Actually, I think last night's debate was the Republican debate, so I don't think we can believe much of what you're asking.

You must have had a good one tied on last night. Those were republicans that were debating.

Wouldn't surprise me. I don't see why liberals are so anxious to define everybody by their sexual preference.
