about the cuba missle crisis. is it true that Americans built missle silos in Cuba in the 50's. my granddad was a marine, and was stationed in cuba in the 50's. my dad says he was there helping build missle silos. this claim is strengthened by the fact that he was a metal worker. is there some dark passage of this part of history

Sergeants, when you find yourselves walking around post, nitpicking about the appearance of random objects that have NO RELEVANCE except in a book of regulations in which you may find yourselves asking rhetorical questions to those "below" you such as: "What's that string hanging out of your pocket?" you're just giving everyone the impression of the following: that you DO NOT have anything to do, that you want to feel like something big and important, that you are an incapable "leader" and you were probably promoted by default and that you may have repeated the 4th grade 3 times since you still use that awful phrase that starts with a big H. Morons.

Not me! I have a 1768 Brown Bess musket from the Revolutionary War I inherited when I was 9. I got an 8mm Mauser from WWI when I was 11. I inherited my late father's gun collection as well. See Gods and Generals? I have one or two of each weapon. See Saving Private Ryan? I have one of each of those guns (that are legal for me to own) also. I am a Civil War Reinactor and a target shooter who qualified expert in the service. I even have the Japanese Arisaka rifle and bayonet that my grandfather was stabbed in the leg with! (AND the 45 pistol he shot the man with who tried to kill him on Iwo Jima with it.) The rifle is a "last ditch" model and crudely made but the bayonet is razor sharp. The markings on it say it was made in Nagoya. I have two Civil War Calvary Sabers and an origional 1850's "pepperbox" revolver. All told, I have about $15,000 worth of guns in my three safes. I will NOT hand any one of them over just because Hillary intends to say so!

Septemper 11th, 2001.
We were so pissed that we just took over a country. Then 2 years later we were still mad so we took over another one. I mean looked what happened to Japan in World War 2. 2 cities wiped off the map. And in Vietnam, we may have loss (due to liberlias in Washington), but we ****** up Hanio pretty bad. We are occuping the countrys around them, for Christs sake! Sure we may have some problems with insurgancy but still, we could topple Irans goverment in 3 mounths. I guss what i'm saying is don't make the USA mad, or we'll blow up some stuff.

Some people keep saying about Iraq: "I don't support the war, I don't like the way the war is being is conducted, but I support our troops." What the heck does that mean? The war is why those soldiers are there, right? So you don't support why they're there, but you support them being there? Hell, I think Iraq is Vietnam all over again, and I don't support it, but do people agree the reasoning of supporting one but not the other is bizarre? I mean, if you don't support what they're fighting for, aren't they pretty demoralised when they hear that, so you aren't really supporting them?

What happens to those few last soldiers waiting for a ride home? They will be defenseless and vulnerable.

Wouldn't it be better to sneak out all at once unannounced?
I mean that is if it is our plan to cut and run.

I think we are helping them recruit by being in Iraq. If we tried to made friends with the Arabs in general (not the terrorists), but the moderates, I am sure they will have a hard time convincing people to rage Jihad.

I realize that "best" is rather subjective. I would like an explanation of why you think it is the best. Even though an M1A2 abrams can survive an attack by almost any other tank, it is extremely expensive, heavy, and guzzles gas. Tell me what you think is a tanks most important feature (i.e. survivability, cost, leathality) Thanks in advance for your responses.

Why cant we use the Marsahl plan once again. We are spending over 200billion dollars on war. We could have bought any disgruntled general in Iraq who would have gladly fought our war for us for say a billion dollars.

Have you thanked a spouse of a militant? Have you thanked a soldier? You may not be in agreement with the current war and our political party in office, but it would be nice if some of us would support our troops and thank the spouses of the troops. After all, they make it possible for us to live a free life and a somewhat safe life here in America......So...THANK YOU to all of our troops who are serving and who have served....THANK YOU for your sacrafices and bravery!!!!!!!!!...Kimmie

We are hearing the same exact things about Iran that we did about Iraq yet Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction and over 3,000 soldiers did and hundreds of thousands of civilian iraquis. How can Americans support a war with Iran when the government lied so much about Iraq?

It has been well piblicized that hard core Nazi ideology has been impressed on the cadets in our military academies. I s the same thing happening to the lower end grunts in boot camp? I asked a marine on leave who had participated in the Falluja massacre if he would do the same thing to an American city, even his own home town, if so ordered to do so by the president. He answered without hesitation "yes". Two weeks later he was murdered on-base. perhaps he talked too much?
