definitely. just like the war in south Korea. we were fighting for human rights. yes man lives were lost. but if we had won can you imagine all the little boys and girls who would have the right to think for themselves and express their opinions. i mean right now, people are saying whatever they want on this website because millions lost their lives during the revolutionary war. we were just trying to help these countries who were going to fall victims to a horrible government. no one would be asking this question had we won because we would probably be buying south Vietnamese cars like we are from the Koreans. it's just a shame that due to pressure from inside our country we had to leave the south Vietnamese to fend for themselves. so to answer your question i say although to us it seems like just a waste of lives, it would have been worth it had we won because millions would be free.

Our fighting and spending money caused Russia to fall. The world is a better place now, but we still have our problems.
For those who think we lost the war, how do you determine losing? Basically, we got tired of the darn thing and came home. The ones responsible for "our loss" is the government. This is why we are having difficulties in Iraq. If we were to start a bombing campaign on Iran and Syria, this war would end sooner. But, the ones not fighting, are the ones dictating the ROE's. They did it in Nam and they did it in Korea.

Anyone who says that it was did not lose a friend or family member there.
Like the war in Iraq, it was a war begun with a lie. Read the history. Johnson got the approval of Congress after the "Tonkin Gulf" incident.
Is Vietnam a free country?
Did we win?
Does the loss of 58,000 Americans seem like a reasonable price to pay?
Please.....................................

Yes and no, Strategically we lost South Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, but it widened the split between Russia and china and wound up with China fighting Vietnam. Communism has all but collapsed so in the long run we won.

Yes it was worth fighting for.
What would have happened if the Soviet Union had not run out of steam and collapsed? Where would we be today?
Would we be still wondering when the Russians were going to launch nukes and storm the Fulda Gap?

It was wrong.
Just completely wrong.
We were fighting in support of a brutal and unpopular government, against the will of the majority of the people of Vietnam.
It was such a shock to our soldiers, who had been lied to, when they realized they weren't protecting the civilians from the Viet Cong, but the civilians supported the "enemy" -- unfortunately, most came to the wrong conclusion, that the people were the enemy, rather than that we were supporting the wrong people.
Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong.
The damage we did to ourselves was nothing in comparison to the damage we did to them and to the neighboring countries.

would you even exist if the war never happened? To ponder whether things from the past were worth happening , you must first ask yourself if the lives of today are worth trading for the lives of the past. The past has already happened its the future that we can change.

He ran to Alabama because of the fact he's chickenhawk. "Yeah it is high-quality for human beings do die for the rustic as long because it is not me" Chickenhawk like Mitt Romney and his 5 sons, Chickenhawk like college Republicans. do no longer supply me that tripe approximately helping the war by potential of campaigning. it is completed bull. Mitt Romney and George Bush desire the Whitehouse to profiteer. they do no longer care relating to the war, in basic terms like George Bush's grandfather had no qualms approximately merchandising Nazi Germany a million/3 of their uncooked components.
