I am wanting to join the army reserve. I want to be involved with medical. Perhaps paramedic or medical service corps aviation? So I can be a medic in the helicopters. Thanks for any opinions.

Because, timetable to withdraw from Iraq, is supporting to take out of harm way our troops. Obviously the oil companies want our troops to guard their oil fields in iraq at the blood cost of our children, thus, Bush was ordered to veto the bill by the oil conglomerate.

I am asking this because I think people forget that we are fighting a certain kind of enemy. These people are not in uniform they do not distinguish themselves from regular civilians and they hide pretty much everywhere. Our military still does a great job and I will still take 5 US soliders over 100 guerrilla fighters to win a fight anyday, but how do you crush and defeat an organization with no real leader organization and structure.

it doesn't show support for the troops,it shows disrespect. There is no logical reason to claim to be in the service or a vet on yahoo, there is no way it can be proven. If you support the troops, don't dishonor their service by lying.

if they can't all come home, then they ALL should be able to perform their jobs without political red tape! It is outrageous to say the White House is keeping the soldiers from calling the shots as they see it in combat, and tying their hands!

1) Send 200,000 more troops
2) spend billions of dollars
3) convince other nations to make Iraq a priority
4) punish anyone other country that tries to help our enemies in Iraq.

Do all the above, but have a fail safe plan that promises total withdrawl by 2010. So we either get the job done or get out.

Would this work?

For those who support Bush, please answer this: what if we are just helping prolong a civil war, and in fact our presence is actually fanning the flames of a civil war? What if for every terrorist we kill, two more spring up in his place? Do we just stay there forever? What would have to happen to acknowledge that we are not helping the situation by trying to solve the political problems in Iraq by military means? And if you think we are going to solve them that way, is it reasonable to ask how long do you think that will take? Let's say we are still in Iraq ten years from now, and the situation is still the same. Troops are getting killed, and the parties over there are still killing each other? Should we continue to stay the course?

Can one of the liberal extremists out there clarify the reasoning as to why MILLIONS of dollars of unrelated pork sandwiched in the bill makes soldiers combat ready and insures their safety. Remember, thats an EXACT QUOTE from Pelosi and echoed by Harry. And how, specifically is peanut storage the will of the american people when it relates to Iraq. Obviously the Pelosi/reid regime desparately needs a reality check as NONE of this was the will of the american people who are pro or con for the war. NO one directed them to install tax and spend campaigns and certaily the razor thin mandate of 06 was not about pulling an arbitrary date out of the air for cut and run. Oh and by the way, while your at it, if we can sift through all your trumpeting about since billary and john edwards have flipped flopped out of their authorization vote, could you state how cut and run WONT drive the middle east into chaos. the post and the la times have already gone on record in this forum against it.

President Bush vetoed the troop withdrawal bill today. Yet in your opinion who do you think is right, should there be a fast withdrawal of troops. Or a more gradual one. Is there a right choice or will any plan that people come up with cause more chaos.

In the news when reporting about the military, they use the word troop when talking about one person. The definition of troop, is a group of people. Why are they constantly doing this in the news? Doesn't it drive everyone else nuts? I have a friend that is thinking that when they talk about sending one thousand troops to Iraq, he thinks they are sending one thousand groups of people there. Why are they doing this? Using the word troop for one person?

The Pentagon is running out of oil/gasoline supplies...
The Department of Defense is the largest single energy consumer in the country...in World War II, the United States consumed about a gallon of fuel per soldier per day...the US operations in Iraq and Afghanistan burned about 16 gallons of fuel per soldier on average per day...of all the cargo the military transports, more than half consists of fuel. About 80 percent of all material transported on the battlefield is fuel (not counting batteries)...the United States spends an average of $44 billion per year safeguarding oil supplies in the Persian Gulf...
