No, you do not have to serve in the military if you're applying for Permanent Residency, even after the Green Card is approved.

Yes, you have to register for Selective Service once you get your Green Card if you're an adult male and you meet the qualifications.

The American military is all-volunteer. There is no coercion involved with attaining citizenship.

No, but young men who have a Green Card must register, like all young American men, with the Selective Service System (draft).

you cannot join the US military WITHOUT a Green card. the Green Card is a requirement if you are not a Citizen.

No not required if over 18 must register for draft forget top age. But odds are you will never be drafted.

no you don't, I did have to sign up for selective service however
