after enlisting right after highschool?

2007-05-03 12:01:33 · 9 answers · asked by simkvn64 2

The only place I can think of someone being a true Civilian would be a Farmer who farms just enough to feed his family and lives far away from the city. Totally independent of the country.

Because, people who work in the cities are either potential soldiers or helping to win the war off the battle field.

Lets start with the Janitor. A Janitor working in an office building is keeping the place clean so that people who work there can make money. Those people who make money, help support the economy or do other things for the society or government in some way. During a large war, Economy = Weapons. The Janitor is also a prime candidate for a potential soldier, since he does not make alot of money and could be easily recruited if needed.

Even Farmers. Farmers are feeding either Soldiers themselves or the people who run the economy.

Everything someone does, helps the economy or helps the war. Both go hand in hand in times like WWII.

The other night we watched a movie called, "Flags of our Fathers."
.
During the movie, I pointed out the
radio broadcast of "Tokyo Rose."
She had the best music on her station to attract listeners. Primarily American GI's.
.
During World War II, the Japanese developed a way to demoralize
the American forces. Psychological warfare experts developed a message
they felt would work.
.
They gave the script to their famous broadcaster "Tokyo Rose", and every
day she would broadcast this same message packaged in different ways.
.
The Japanese hoped it would have a negative impact on American GI's
morale.
.
What was that demoralizing message?
It had three main points:
1. Your President is lying to you.
2. This war is illegal.
3. You cannot win the war.

Sound familiar libbies? Your Reid, Murtha, Pelosi, Kerry and Kennedy hero's love saying this stuff don't they.
TRAITORS!!!!!!!

I am referring to traditional army here--not special forces or whatnot and I am not talking about size of the standing army or number or troops.

I think it's Israel's IDF, but what do you think and why?

This might be a stupid question but after watching Band of Brothers I really want to find this out. In that series I saw soldiers carrying 3 different types of weapons: the Thompson M1928, the US M1 Garand Rifle, and the M1 Carbine-Resin (I think I have the names right, but I'm not sure).

My question is, why are some soldiers issued one type of weapon and other soldiers are issued a different type?

Anyone know?

The less educated and "out of work" people seem to make up the majority of the recruits. Why won't the very rich "AND Well educated pull their duty in the military?

Apparently he doesn't favor a time line, and the Dems have said they won't make the mistake of submitting another bill with timelines, so that is out.

But, this R-NV John Ensign guy seems to think the solution lies in the power of the purse in Iraq. He proposes we tie financial commitment to stability gains in Iraq. In other words, we say, here is a benchmark, reach this benchmark, get this money, don't reach it, no money. Eventually if the citizens realize their best interests lie in supressing the violence, a lot of the violence could cease for all but the hard liners, and of course Al Qaeda and Iranians supporting the jerks.

I think I like this policy the best so far, as it does compromise with the Democrats and doesn't give our enemy a time line, more a "success" line vs. a "dead" line.

Democrats are trying to run the war and have our soldiers turn tail and run. My son is serving in Iraq and he says most of the soldiers are tired of the Democrats interferring and not backing the troops. Most of them know its a political thing and they wish the Democrats would just shut up.

If I join the Air Force Reserves, how long do I have to be in it? I want to join it but I don't want to be tied to it until they say I'm to old to be in it. And do you know how hard the training is and how long it takes? Thats the only problem I see... Im not used to being away from home for a long time. I've only been gone from home for 1 week (that is the longest I've ben away from home).

The M2A4 15 lb shaped charge and the M3A1 40 lb shaped charge can be placed upside down in a hole in the road and rigged for command detonation. They can also be placed on their side with sand bags and angled to direct their blast (15 lb 10 feet) (40 lb 20 feet). You can not stop a truck with small arms even if you hit the steer tires. Remember the Marines in Beirut and the 9, 82nd Airborne troops north of Bagdahd.

I was told to ask everyone to please wear Red, tommorrow. To show Support for Our Troops in Harms way. Not only in Iraq. But anywhere that they are in danger. While Protecting This Country. [Their Country] Without the least bit of concern for their own Safety.

I don't like asking for Stars. But I do want this message to get out!! If you support Our Troops? Please show your Support in the form of wearing Red, on each and every Friday.

God Bless all who do. And thank God, for all of Our Brave Military.
