He did not go to Vietnam because the type of aircraft he was trained to fly was not being used over there.
And has it occurred to you that you are a hypocrite? Here you are criticizing the quality of his service when you have never done anything.

he was training on the planes that were being phased out. Difference between phased out and "didn't exist". do your research.
