Democrats are trying to run the war and have our soldiers turn tail and run. My son is serving in Iraq and he says most of the soldiers are tired of the Democrats interferring and not backing the troops. Most of them know its a political thing and they wish the Democrats would just shut up.

It is called "seperation of powers".

The Executive Branch (the President) is responsible for the day-to-day management of the State.

The Legislative Branch (Congress/Senate) enact laws and have exclusive authority to raise taxes and adopt the budget and other money bills. The consent of the legislature is also often required to ratify treaties and declare war.

So, the President CAN run the war, since he was given authority by the Legislative Branch, with no further Congressional approval. He just can't ask for more money for it.

As for the Democrats not backing the troops- remember who passes numerous cuts to their pay and benefits after many were deployed - the Republicans. Doesn't sound like they're backing the troops either.

Le Moyne College/Zogby Poll shows just one in five troops want to heed Bush call to stay “as long as they are needed”. An overwhelming majority of 72% of American troops serving in Iraq think the U.S. should exit the country within the next year, and more than one in four say the troops should leave immediately.

Pelosi is the most powerful woman ( at least I think she's a woman ) in the US. She can easily make things very bad for Obama. Obama does not have the balls to stand up to her and doesn't know enough about politics to do so even if he did have them. He relies on Axelrod for everything. When Obama says no comment that means Axelrod has yet to tell him what to say concerning that particular situation. Obama is merely a puppet and this will come out more and more as time goes on. What's going to be very interesting is when the Obama bubble burst and by that I mean all these political promises he made during the primaries are going to explode in his face. MANY of the African-Americans are expecting Obama to take care of them and many expect him to make them wealthy and when this doesn't happen your going to see Mr. Obama's popularity drop big time

The Constitution demands that the congress control the power of the purse in regard to the Armed Forces.

You have a son, who is obviously grown and made the decision to go into the Army.

Just curious...every time that someone demanded that you give him money for something, for example school fees, athletic camps, music lessons, prom tuxedo rentals, class photos, the yearbook, etc. did you just write a check and not ask any questions? If you had your son enrolled in basketball camp for 4 years straight and he still couldn't dribble the ball, do you feel as though you had the right to ask why not? If you had your son enrolled in private tutoring to help him with his schoolwork and he still got failing grades, would you ask how this is possible? If you were paying his college tuition and the professors in his college decided that they didn't want to teach anymore, would you perhaps pull him out of school?

Anyway, it is the right of the Congress to ask difficult questions...this is not micromanaging. If Speaker Pelosi were standing over the shoulder of the General Officers and telling them which units to deploy and what provinces to go into...that would be micromanaging. If anything, they are "macromanaging" by asking for realistic deadlines for what the President claims is an attainable goal.

I am a Soldier, and I know LOTS of other Soldiers. I and many of my brothers in arms appreciate the fact that there is SOMEONE asking difficult questions of our military leadership.

She won't keep her mouth shut because the American people voted for a change in direction over Iraq. What does the electorate know about war? I don't know. I don't know about war, neither does Pelosi or the President.
God bless your son.

Because she, and anyone else, has the right to voice an opinion. A democratic government is going to have an opposition; it's part of the system.

Nancy Pelosi has always been strongly opinionated and will say/do whatever she thinks is right according to her. To heck with the consequences!

What fun would that be??? I mean look at all the good she does, giving awards to known Terrorists (Syria). She is just helping us understand that all they need is some love and understanding. I hear her and Jane Fonda may actually take a USO show there.
Ah shoot, she just gives us another good reason to shake our heads and get a good chuckle.....
Sorry truthspeak, it's not that she is a woman, it's that she is embarrasing herself and her party...Can you disagree with a woman, and not be sexist? Apparantly not in your biggoted world.....

That woman will never close her mouth until she dies. Plus I think she should be tried for treason for going to and meeting with government officials of syria.
