A safe bet is the class B uniform, but the important thing is having a fresh hair cut and being clean shaven. I am veteran non-commissioned officer and would be impressed by those things from a new soldier. Good luck!

Most bases will have specific guidelines regulating this. For instance, at Ft. Hood, the regulation says to report in ACU's unless you are reporting after duty hours, in which case you can report in civilian clothing. Go to Ft. Riley's webpage and there should be an Inprocessing, Newcomers, Incoming Personell, or something similar link. Most likely, it will tell him exactly what to wear.

ACU's are probably OK, unless the paperwork says he needs to report in Class A's. Whenever I used to report for a new duty station I liked to wear my class A's, I think it just looks better and I have never been scolded for showing up in to nice a uniform.

it should be ACU's. That is what I reported in here at Ft. Riley. He will go to the Replacement Co. first, so eventhough a first impression is important, it is more important what he looks like when he reports to his unit which will be about a week after he arrives at Ft. Riley.

In the old days, it used to be Class A's. That's what I showed up in many years ago. Nowadays, ACU's should be fine. Fresh haircut and shave are obligatory. He's not traveling outside CONUS so no special instructions should be on his orders.
He's got plenty of time if he's doing Hometown Recruiting. By the way, why are you asking this question on his behalf? Why didn't he sort himself out back before he left AIT? And can't he read his travel orders? All the instructions are in there, including whether travel by POV is authorized or no.

First impressions go a long ways. So think about what he wants that impression to be and you will know the answer to that question.
When I transfered to new unit it was Class As, and make sure the damn tie is strait and shoes spit shined. Look professional!!

His birthday suit! It will give our good men, and women, of the military a laugh to carry them for years! And, a well needed one! Bless you, and your husband. God bless America, and our nudity!

He obviously didn't pay attention during basic then... they tell you all that stuff there. Maybe he should go back and see if he can get it right...
