Your best bet is to go either Air Force or Navy. The other two branches will tell you they will train you to do whatever job you want but the catch is 1) If you fail a section of the class they choose what they want to retrain you into, and 2) just because they trained you to do that job doesn't mean you will be doing it once you move on to your first assignment. For the Army and Marines, you are a grunt first, specialist second. I can't tell you how the Navy works it but if you choose the Air Force (which I feel is the branch that will let you live the most normal life), you can go into the recruiters office, tell them what you want and if your test scores qualify you for that job you can get that job. You might have to wait a while for an available school date but if you want that job that badly, you can have it. Once you get to your first duty station, the Air Force is pretty accommodating when it comes to school. You can work on your degree after work. I say go Air Force

I am not in the military, but my brother is. He told me once that the military was the best thing he ever did. Probably because it got him out of trouble. Anyways, he said that women in the military had a hard time sometimes. Not being sexest or anything, but that's what he said. You might want to think about all the possibilities before you join the service. Dental Hygienist sounds like it would pay more. I don't know though, I've never really studied that or anything. However, whatever you think is best for you is what you should do. I think you would do great in either career.

The military is an awesome job if you're up to the training, etc. I grew up in a Navy home and married a former Marine, so I can tell you that there are lots of good deals for those in the military, including fantastic healthcare, cheap or free housing, commissaries, and so on. Make it VERY CLEAR to your recruiter that that's what you want to do. That way they can let you know what requests to fill out and when so that when you get done with basic training you can go to dental school.

go to the recruiter's office for the various branches of the military. Take to the recruiters and see what they can offer you. It's possible that you could join and get the training for dental hygienist through the military.

Talk to the recruiters for each branch. See who's willing to offer you the best deal. All branches have their own dental personnel on base. So you can actually join AND be a hygenist at the same time! Just figure out which branch suits you best! :-)
Good luck!

I can only answer for the Army so here goes. The Army can guarantee you a job as a Dental Specialist
Here is an over view of it:
The Dental Specialist is primarily responsible for assisting Army dentists in the examination and treatment of patients, while also helping to manage dental offices. Some of your duties as a Dental Specialist may include:
Helping dentists perform oral surgery
Preparing for patient examinations by selecting and arranging instruments and medications
Assisting with the administration of anesthesia
Performing maintenance on dental equipment
Operating resuscitative equipment
Loading and unloading radiographic film cassettes
Helping dentists during examinations by preparing dental compounds and operating dental equipment
Cleaning patients' teeth using scaling and polishing instruments and equipment
Operating dental X-ray equipment
Processing X-rays of patients' teeth, gums and jaws
Providing guidance to patients on daily care of their teeth
Performing administrative duties, such as scheduling office visits, keeping patient records and ordering dental supply.
Provided your qualified for the job physically, mentally, and morally the Army will guarantee you this job. Go talk to a recruiter and see what they have to say. In addition, if you don't get the job you want your under no obligation to enlist. Force their hand, if your qualified for it tell them that is all you will do.

Unfortunately, as a female, HM is currently closed to you, therefore you cannot join the Navy with the Dental NEC contract. You will have to lsee if the Army or Air Force need dental techs.

You can join the Navy and be a Corpsman, and asked to go to Dental Technician school and the sub-specialty Dental Hygienist (DT-8708). Hope this helps.
