I say the words "I am so proud of you" pretty much on a daily basis to my guy (3 tours in Iraq, currently doing air force security forces @ a US base). What else can I do or say to show him just how proud I am of him?

My reason for them staying is that when we leave there will be allot of blood shed and we leave we WILL HAVE LOST THE WAR!!!!! And then other countries will think of America as a weak nation- I never wanted America to go to war with them but now that they are there they NEED TO STAY THERE!!!!! --- WE HAVE ALREADY SPENT SO MANY LIVES AND MONEY FOR THIS WAR OVER THERE AND TO BRING THEM HOME WOULD MAKE IT ALL FOR NOTHING- WASTED MONEY AND LIVES---- THE REAL TARGET THAT WE SHOULD HAVE WENT TO WAR WITH IS AFGANISTAN, because THEY are the ones who attacked us—NOT IRAQ!!!!!!!!
OK i have told you why we should stay, and how i thought we shouldnt have gone over there in the first place, and how if we leave so many people will die, and about if we leave that all our lives that have been lost will be all for nothing, so again tell me why we should come home and if this is your first time answering then go ahead and speak your opinion.

That's what a lot Middle East experts thought.

Saddam's regime was the most secular of any Muslim country and "his own people" whom he killed imprisoned and tortured etc (besides 5,000 Kurds) were actually Jihad Mujahadeen Iranian-backed Shiite extremists.
The evidence of course is great that this is the truth.
Certainly in his ten-year war with Iran, which caused 1 million Iraqi deaths, that's exactly who he was fighting.

If Saddam was a Jihadist holy warrior as Bush/GOP & Co claim(ed), he never would have fought the Iranian Jihad, and/or Bin laden would have been in Iraq and not Afghanistan.
What do you think?

That seems a long way from improving security in Bagdad.
Talk about going backwards.
But like the Jihadists, of every persuasion, warned; they welcome more American targets.

i always see people post that part of the reason to join the military is to defend your country. is it a bad thing that i am not at all grateful for anyone in the military?
iraq has nothing to do with me or the u.s. and dont try to pull the 9/11 thing since iraq has nothing to do with that either.
also, 9/11 was a tragedy, but our government did a good job of building up foreign aggression and hostility towards the u.s.
our government even funded and armed most of our current enemies. this doesnt sound like im being defended at all.

but I'm new and didn't know SQUAT . So I hope this is the right section.......Does anyone think that we should provide our frontline soldiers with a means of taking their own life ( the method at ths moment is irrelevant, suffice to say it would have to be instant and painless ) in the event of capture by Al-Queda as upon capture they would be tortured and MURDERED in the vilest possible way and the video then posted on the net to further the ideals of this sick group.? I fully realise the implications of this as to morale but must say the decision would ultimately up to the individual person. I don't suggest this lightly but if given the choice which would you prefer.? The option of dying with at least some dignity ro to have your head hacked off for the benifit of those P~~~Ks. I mean no disrespect to our HEROIC soldiers, rather the opposite, after all of all the released hostages how many were soldiers.?
