Good thing every one has the right to there own opinion! My question for you is, do you have a brother, father, husband, son, sister, mother over there fighting the war on terrorism? Well I have a brother, sister, and husband over there. Proud to be over there but tired and exhuasted. The Four star general over there has said over and over again... The goal bush has set is unrealistic...
If we leave not one country will think that we are a "weak nation" about a month ago all of Britian pulled out and every one thinks them smart. For us staying there we are being foolish, and lives are being wasted right now, by us staying there fighting a war, that no longer has nothing to do with us.

There are excellent moral reasons to stay in the war: primarily, your country made the mess and you have a moral duty to clean it up, or at least suffer a lot more as punishment.
But on the other hand, you will never 'win' (in the event that you (by which I mean 'American voters') can even define what that means, let alone a means of getting to that definition). It's a great shame that thousands of Americans have died for the dubious fantasy of Wolfowitz, Perle and Rumsfeld, a great shame. But killing a lot more will not redeem that. And if you can win, it will take tens of thousands... is it worth that? Maybe it is, it's for individuals to decide. But as it stands I think you have a war unwinnable with the means available- it is not fair to kill more soldiers for a bad cause to redeem the sacrifice of others already dead. This is why, in a country where the civilian government control the military, you HAVE TO punish the evildoers who created this.
There have been many, many stupid campaigns in military history that deteriorated to the point that they were only being waged out of pride- or, because 'other countries will think of (America) as a weak nation' as you put it. The British in Greece in 1941 and Turkey in 1915, Germany in Stalingrad in December 1942, Russia in Afghanistan in the 80s spring immediately to mind. Rest assured, those countries already think you are a stupid and prone-to-accepting evil nation. Even if you can get them to think of you as 'strong', the 'gullible' tag will take decades to remove- and even in Vietnam no thinking people thought that of Americans.
You could get out of Iraq and get the 'tough guy' image by disarming (by war) Pakistan, who proliferate nuclear weapons and damage America while pretending to be its friend- how do you think that makes you look?
Totally agree with you about Afghanistan- that was where the real war was, and is. With the 150,000 troops from Iraq it could be fought quite successfully... as it stands both campaigns have been ruined, and American interests in the Middle East have been set back irretrievably.

you need another reason other than all the soldiers who have lost their lives? what about all the military spouses that are widowed? and all the children that are without their parents? the war has been said to be another Vietnam War? is that ok with you...... ??????? please do you have any family or friends in the war? anyone in Iraq right now?
do you know what it is like to have to tell your child that daddy isnt home because he is becoming a hero? doing something that not everyone will stand up and do? think about that when you say that no one has convinced you that the war should stop..... where are you at other than sitting on your butt not risking your life for the freedom that you seem to enjoy so much......
i am sorry i know that a lot of this probably doesnt make sense but i just had to say goodbye to my husband for 15 months.... and all my little boy does is say dadadada......... what would you do if you were in my place wouldnt you feel the same way????

Isn't it fortunate that we don't have to convince you? So don't worry, I won't try.
Congress knows and is convinced because "we, the people" want it to stop. They are going to stop it quick. If the jackass in the Oval Office keeps throwing his little temper tantrums, Congress will cut the purse strings..... the war will end within 60 - 90 days - the time necessary to bring all our young soldiers and their equipment home.
By the way, you are such a war supporter - can I assume you are writing from a foxhole on the battlefield outside Bahgdad???

well since bush ''had'' to put a crap load of troops into iraq (which i dont think he should have done) we should stay there just because weve gone this far into it and it would be pointless to go back now.on the other hand the irages should have been able to take care of em selves in the first place so there was no point to get caught up in this, so basicly every thing about this freakin war is pointless no madder whish way you look at it.....im to bored to say anything else.

Because we are not fighting it like a war. In any war we have won, we bombed the hell out them, then brought in artillery and additional air support, then the troops to clean up. In Iraq we are sending in one 20 year old solider at a time into 12 million of them, who do you think is going to win? In fact, they have already won with this stupid strategy of sending in a few young soliders at a time. The world knows it, Iraq knows it, thats why they won't step up and fight. The US looks weak because this is a weak way to fight anything. Either we fight a war full out or get out.

I think we should end the War because I do not want to die in it. I like my life and I hope I can live it.
This war is ripping the Military apart, and ruining many families.

There is no convincing people like you and you know that so stop wasting peoples' time by asking the same question over and over again. Just like President Bushs' adherence to the war in spite of his generals advice to the contrary, the requests from members of his own party, and the will most of the people of this country, you are set in your ways. The we can't lose claim, is just stupid, blind, vanity. Why keep asking this question when you have answered it yourself....it was Afghanistan so why keep punishing Iraq? I would ask that you move on to something else, but I imagine that, like George Bush, that is impossible for you. AGAIN, Stop acting all high and holy like you are the only one who has the answer.
