In past years , you could request an inter-service transfer . However the Army is very far behind in their officer procurement . As any good company would do they may not currently allowing any one to go to the Marines, opposing company (losing their good employees). By the time you graduate you may be allowed to go again . I had a West Point grad who went with me to TBS (the Basic School (school for USMC Lts) . There was also a guy from the USAF academy (1996). Most importantly ask West Point officials your questions. I remember my friends telling me it was a competition, at the Academies, to be in the Marines but you can request to be given the chance to compete. I do not know very much about the service academies , I came up through the ranks and went to school while I was enlisted. Any Service academy will give you a GREAT education and a chance to serve your country. I wish I would have gone to an academy but I was too old by the time I pulled my head out and never scored high enough, on the SATs to be competitive. Good luck.

If you want to go into the USMC then you have to go to the US Naval Academy. If you got to West Point then your only choice is the Army.

If your plans are to attend a military academy and become a Marine officer upon graduation, you apply to Annapolis !
West Point is the Army's counterpart to Annapolis !

stable question. One I asked myself once I chosen which branch to connect. i replaced into occupied with military till now each and everything. The marines are nicely knowledgeable and disciplined previous maximum militia personel. whilst my uncles stand next to a minimum of one yet another you may tell which one is the marine and that's in the army. Few make it to the identify of marine. The delight which you experience as a recruit for the marine corps or as a marine is unequalled. I admire all different branches as nicely yet I talk from experiance.

There are very few slots for graduates of one service academy to get a commission in another service. Usually less than ten per class.
I flew with pilot in AF that was an Annapolis grad, and accepted a commission in the AF.
Many of these slots go unfilled, for obvious reasons.

After you graduate from a military academy you owe them 4 years of your life. After that you can resign that branch & go anywhere.
