A stable, popular, unified democratic government in control of the country and an end to or massive decrease in sectarian violence and terrorist activity. Ideally the government will be independent and not a puppet to the US or any other nations, but will still maintain favorable relations with the US and the coalition countries. It should also be able to resist any attempts by Iran to control the government, but also be able to hold stable relations with its neighbor. Before the war, Iraq was a well educated country with better infrastructure than some other middle eastern countries. And that was under the foolish and brutal Saddam. Under a stable and non-corrupt democratic government, Iraq would be able to become an economic leader in the region and would not have to rely solely on oil exports as other nations do. The US should ideally keep an air base or two active as it would be helpful for supporting other operations in the region if they were ever needed, and it would discourage terrorist hoping to attack the government after we leave.

A good Iraq would have an entire population livng in freedom with a democratically elected, stable government able to get along with the international community . The imams and mullahs would be in the mosques, where they belong and would have no political power whatsoever. Parents would quit encouraging their children to strap on bombs in order to provide an income for the family. The nonsense of the 70 virgins waiting for junior in paradise would cease to be taught. Pushing Israel into the sea would cease to be a national goal. Iraq's religion and politics would be completely separated and women would be treated with respect.

That is a darn good question... How come nobody asked this question and looked for an answer prior to the invasion? I don't know if a good outcome is possible in Iraq as it stands. Hopefully one can come about. I think everyone should see the documentary "The Fog Of War". I see it as without a political agenda... just looking back at a similar situation.... similar... definitely not the same. Best regards to the troops, I support them.

A good outcome would be if the Iraqi people could govern them self's and there neighboring country's wanted piece, but that will never happen, with all the sharp minds in the world none can figure out how to make this work.We can't stay there and we can't leave,it doesn't matter if your to the left or right, only God can intervene and settle this war.

Gradually bring the troops home. Divide Iraq into zones according to religious factions. Keep a civilian oversight force in the country until the Iraqis take over but put a time limit on it -- no more than 1 year.
Enough is enough. No more American blood should be spilled in Iraq.

A good iraq war outcome would be having sadam hussein back in power to be honest , torture , death , destruction , terrorism , debt , hunger , unemployment , has all gone up in iraq since he left power , hes obviosuly not a good person but if we could only bring this country back to the sadam levels it would be a sucess ,, because of a couple reasons alright , one you must consider your looking at a religional war and its never going to be settled been fighting since the crusuades and its never been resolved so george bush and his cronies (sorry for name calling), think there goin to step in power and POOF THE WAR IN MIDDLE EAST IS OVER , no they're making it worse , so bring sadam back into power would be a victory at the moment...
lol I just had to think about it and I guess a Sadam Like figure , I forgot they killed him or Did they? lol
