I am considering joing the Navy as an Officer, I have recently graduated with BA. My hair is to about mid my back and I really don't want to cut it. Is is true that I have to cut my hair to be able to go to training? Or is OCS different?
Thanks

No, you just have to keep it up at ALL TIMES. Pulled up above neck line. Buns, buns with braids...

I went to basic and had hair to my waist, never had to cut it.

You won't have to cut it but you will have to keep it pulled up off your collar.

In the Marine Corps, you can't have any hair clips or anything showing. I am not sure if this is the case in the Navy.

What I can tell you is that you don't have a lot of time to be messing with your hair. You might find it easier to just cut it instead of messing with it, especially at OCS.

I was in the Army Rotc, and yes you will have to cut your hair especially as an officer, They told me when I went threw the officer training course It would have to be shoulder length. Once you are an Officer they are a bit more loose on the fact of having longer hair, but it has to be pulled back tight in a bun, and not resting on your collar.

I think it's the same with the Navy as the other Armed Forces. You CAN go with it long, but believe me, those barbers will take great pleasure in cutting your hair.....the longer it is, the rougher they will be when they cut it. My hubs was in the army after college, and his hair was about shoulder length. Man, he said those barbers laughed, called him a pretty boy, and totally made his head bleed and have razor burn. Not so nice. I would get it cut reasonably short before you go. Not too short, or then they make fun of you for being a kiss-a**.

I was in the military and there were girls with long hair. In uniform they had to be above their shoulder. Either in a bun or cut to shoulder. Don't let everyone that dosen't know, scare you!

Women do not get their hair cut like the guys do. It can be as long as you want as long as you keep it "up" (in a bun) while on duty. You will be well briefed on how you are allowed to wear it.

Your not an Officer until you finish basic training. You won't get any special treatment, so the hair goes. sorry...lol

You will not have to shave it off, but you will have to cut it to a maintainable lenght (about shoulder length). You have to be able to keep it up in a bundle. Hope this doesn't change your mind!
