I've always wanted to show my appreciation for the military by writing, but I never know what to say. Most times they can't write back, so I'm not sure what is appropriate. Any advice?

I am considering a position in the Air Force Reserves as a Aircrew Life Support. I am wnating to join the reserves, finish college, and try to become an enlisted officer... my recruiter tells me that I can cross train after I go active duty.

Basically, I have been told what Aircrew Life Support does, but I want to hear from other people what they know the job does before I decide. is it a good job, fun, all of that? Or, is it an easy job, basically what do you know?

Thanks!

Your government wants the oil in another country. So, the military is sent there to make sure the oil stays secure. Is this "defending your country" or is it "defending your country's vested interest" ? Answers of the type that say, "It's both," will be considered null and deleted.

[ Forgave me for this little rant. Some of what I say may be wrong ] I know we cannot but there is something magnificent to look and see soldiers lined up with gleaming shields and swords marching and racing into battle. Compare that to today's battles. Battles back then were win through strategies and strength. Nowadays anybody with a nuclear missle or bomb is a national threat. It seems and is crazy. Entire countries destroyed by one bomb the size of a small car. There is barely any face to face combat. One good shot and you are dead. It is better for the leader to battle on the front line with his army than at a desk planning a attack without every being there. There is no longer clashing of swords but of shooting of ammo and the ping of missed shots.

I see everyone one tv bashing Bush, the war, and America. Have we forgotten why we are fighting? Have we forgotten we have brothers and sisters over there dying? God gave us the strengh to fight for those who can't. I know I haven't forgotten.... Have you?

'Have You Forgotten"
by Darryl Worrley

I hear people saying we don't need this war
I say there's some things worth fighting for
What about our freedom and this piece of ground?
We didn't get to keep 'em by backing down
They say we don't realize the mess we're getting in
Before you start preaching
Let me ask you this my friend
CHORUS 1
Have you forgotten how it felt that day
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away?
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside
Going through a living hell
And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout Bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

Besides giving Insurgents FREE TARGET PRACTICE

US soldiers should be on OUR BORDERS...doing something GOOD

But ...NOOO.... they are making FOOLS of themselves in IRAQ. STUPIDITY is not heroic...I have no sympathy whatsoever for our LOSER troops. Loser nation USA

i've always wondered, why aern't homosexuals allowed in the military? i mean, if women are allowed then why can't homosexuals be allowed? What's the difference; besides the fact that they sleep in different bunks, (i don't know much about the military so im not sure about how the different sexes are seperated if that).
Thanks.
and GO MARINES! =)

Truth: If a soldier is killed today he is "news for one full day in the newspaper. He's buried in four days. The people who know him cry for a few days "Then" the soldier is forgotten forever. Proof:...Who died on 10 March 1969? No one knows or cares. suppose I ask "Who won American Idol last week? Every 20 year old knows. Thanks America!!

We lost the Korean war. We lost the Vietnam War. We got beat in Somalia Oct 1993. Look what happened to the Marines in Lebanon in Oct 1983. ( 241 killed and then the USA cut and ran) And now we are losing in Iraq due to a war based on lies. ( Remember the lies about Vietnam?) Plus look at all the innocent civilians the USA troops have killed. This Veteran will soon tear up his two honorable discharges and will never admit to being a veteran. I'm ashamed of the United States.

a man i've met is telling me stories that sound too big to be credible...navy ('61-'65) his m.o.s. was storekeeper, but he was trained in martial arts, so he was a bodyguard and driver for pierre salinger, mcnamara, and dean rusk (sp?). during his time stationed in hawaii. he also says that he deployed to viet nam after being trained as a navy frogman (but sometimes says he was on the first seal team). he says he was injured severely twice in viet nam and ended up in the naval hospital in california, where john wayne came by and visited him..earned a purple heart, but threw it away. after that, he became a cop, and the stories get much bigger after that. there are so many giant stories, i don't know what to believe.

Have our generals forgot how to fight wars. Like gen patton said "I don't like to pay for the same ground twice" But that is exactly what we are doing now.

they've chosen to ignore the fact that sunnis and shiites are the two factions currently butchering one another, and also targeting US troops as a means of expanding their influence.

so why does the white house insist that if we pull out of iraq, al quaida will be in power, when the sunnis are backed by the saudis, and the shiites are backed by iran?
