It should have been lifted long ago. Clinton wanted to, but being who he was, was hardly the appropriate person to do so. I really thought Bush would. But I suppose the war on terror kinda captured his attention. He doesn't even notice our southern border is a sieve!

The Embargo MIGHT have made sense 30 years ago. But now it's actually helping Cuba more than it is hurting them. It's failure had been a propaganda boon to them, and has encouraged communism in this hemisphere. I think if Cuba had access to the American economy, the 'wall' would have fallen when the Soviet Empire died.

The US and the current government of Viet Nam DID NOT have diploamtic relations until 1995. That 20 year gap (1975-1995) could be considered an embargo by some.

The Vietnamese government negotiated with the US.

I could be mistaken but I do not beleave Castro wants to negotiate. I know our government does not.

Cuba trades with the rest of the world and that has not seemed to help his people any. How would trade with the US help????????

No. Maybe when Castro dies and Cuba decides to join the 21st Century. Cuba never threatened the US? Cuba wanted Soviet nuclear missiles there to aim at the US in 1962. The US should have obliterated Cuba in 1962. Vietnam never made an overt threat to the US.

No, it is not racism. From what the newspapers have mentioned, there are a number of Cubans residing interior the U. S. and that they hate Castro and the Communist regime. they are people who're pressuring the U. S. government to do all they are able to against Communist Cuba. Many persons do no longer believe that determination, however the Cuban people interior the U. S. are very sturdy and vocal of their desires. i assume you or i could be too if our family members have been arrested in simple terms for no longer liking Castro.

They should lift the embargo on Cuba. I been to Cuba on holiday, and they so friendly there. Mind you they don't have to worry the Cubans they do business with Europe. So they not dependent on the USA alone.

It's only been in place for 45 years. Just give it some time. I'm sure it will bring democracy to Cuba.

What difference does it make? We sure as heck are not holding the Cuban people back. Cuba trades with any nation she wants to, just not the US. They can get anything they need from other country's, so don't say we are holding them back..not so..

Yes, it's obviously not working. What's the reason for the embargo? Because they're a communist regime? What the hell is China?!?

Yes. It does absolutely no good. If Cubans had contact with the States, they might insist on improvement in their own country. More representational democracy, better living conditions, etc.
