Once they make a Marine out of you, you will understand. You are still thinking like a civilian.

I was attached to the the 5th Marines and the whole idea is to break you down, get rid of the civil an way of doing things and begin to make you Marines.

You ain't seen nothing yet, cause when you get to Paris Island, it gets rougher. That is the difference between the Marines, and everyone else. They all do a great job, but Marines are for life, Marines follow orders, Marines will not abandon their posts and Marines stand tall.

That's the drill, they want civilians to see their routine, so they will run home and tell anyone who will listen, just how mean and nasty the Marine Corps has become. This is intriguing to young people, and soon it becomes a challenge for them. The next thing you know, they're down at MEPS, signing up !

If you just started boot - how are you able to get on a computer?
This is normal drill behavior. The first phase is about breaking you down. This is done by yelling at you, embarassing you ... whatever it takes. It is all part of the process. They just want to make you the best you can be and that is just one tool that they have to do it.

One of my favorite movie scenes is from "The Boys in Company C". The Senior Drill Instructor is screaming at the platoon, he tells them all to grab thier balls. Then he tells them to pay attention because he is going to teach them how to keeps those little suckers. He was a duplicate of my Senior DI which made it more memorable.

So you are still alive....Do you still have a pair??? Are you dropping to do 20.....a lot???

Because basic starts the moment you come in contact with a drill instructor. They've got to break you down before they can build you up. Man! Haven't you ever seen a movie on this?

They do that because it works with the lowest common denominator. Not you necessarily, but the average recruit.

Speaking of recruiting, if there are any prospects at the airport, I imagine they may changed their minds.

Maybe it's because you can almost see MCRD from the airport. Just turn right on Harbor, turn Right on Rosecrans, Right on Leyton past the old NTC gate, and you're there. Seriously, I doubt that they do anything at the airport.

I want to know why they drove us around for half an hour when the depot is right next to the damn airport.

What did you want? A kiss and hug and a pat on your head for getting on the right airplane? Grow up. Your Momma and Dadda isn't there to tuck you in bed now.
