Appreciate the thank you but actually, Memorial Day is for all the DEAD veterans who served their country. If you want to say "thank you" go to a veterans cemetery on Memorial Day and be part of the activities. The families will truly appreciate the support.

It is not proper to wish someone a "Happy" Memorial Day. It was intended to be a solemn day of reflection for the Nation's war dead. At best you can pray for the dead and their familes and wish them peace and serenity on Memorial Day.
Veteran's Day would be the occasion to wish some vet a happy day.

Duty and common sense responsibilities require no special thanks - but I would like to thank you for your gratitude and intelligence in realizing that freedom is indeed not free.
