they've chosen to ignore the fact that sunnis and shiites are the two factions currently butchering one another, and also targeting US troops as a means of expanding their influence.

so why does the white house insist that if we pull out of iraq, al quaida will be in power, when the sunnis are backed by the saudis, and the shiites are backed by iran?

Why would you call them insurgents? Acutally they should be refered to as terrorists. Most of them are not even Iraqis and they are getting supplied by Iran and Syria. I think that the news and democrats like to refer to them as insurgents so that the American people can be talked in negotiating with them which is an impossabilty. Just ask an Israli person if the terrorists can be negotiated with.

They are trying to link the war in Iraq with the war in Afghanistan and the hunt for bin Laden. It's called spin.

Well, they dont want you to know what going on in iraq, if they keep reffering to them as Al quaida, the american people will support the war as long as they think there is a threat America.
