You can't beat a determined people. If we were invaded, we too would fight back as the insurgents have.

Learned from the war? Perhaps tactics or technology. But war isn't about teaching anything. It's about imposing ones will on your opponent. Since there have been no 9-11 style attacks since we started cracking heads, I'd say we taught more than learned. Don't f*** with us!

A great deal has been learned.
The Clinton years raped our military of it's force, much the same way Carter did. They were denied funding for so many years, it finally took it's toll.
We also learned how poor intel caused us a lot of time and effort. We should have had a better idea of what was in store for us... However, I'm certain the CIA, was hampered in gathering vital information about the region for years. Or if they did pass it along, it was dismissed... Again, thanks Bill!!!
We have learned how a country can forget a major event of our history.
We can only whine and complain about something... But forget how my father left this great nation only to fight for it when another terrorist attact took place on Dec 7 1941.

I think we've learned that it wasn't the solution we thought it would be. It hasn't really accomplished anything. It has caused a tremendous loss of life and further increased terrorism and caused heartache and hardships for innocent victims.
I think we've learned that the world is a horrible place and that people are animals, and that war causes more pain and hardship than any natural disaster or plague could possibly cause.
I think we've learned that we must all learn to live in peace....well those of us with any sanity anyhow.
Oh and more importantly....that some people simply can't exist without a war to fight, whether it's at home or abroad.

Expect the unexpected. Actually that's not true either. The NIC did a study in 2003 of what to expect of an invasion in Iraq. They were pretty much on the money with this study.
The NIC anticipated that Iraq's military would fold like a cheap blanket, which it did. They went on to anticipate an insurgency of Islamic extremists who would infiltrate Iraq from other Islamic countries to fight the American invaders. This happened too !
The Pentagon's response to this study concluded, that it was too negative !

Not to start a war without thinking of all the situations that could and would happen . Not to go to war unprepared and to send enough troops to do the job .
Better an over kill then be undermanned .

The military has learned that too much of their organization, training, and equipment is geared towards nation on nation conflict. Notice how we pretty much erased Saddam's government in less than a month, but we can't get rid of the insurgency in 4 years time.

well,we have learned alot from war. Like Bush said in one if his speeches,he said "Dont worry for America's end,the end will never come",that probably means that america is safer, and i know why.
-Remember on September 11,2001,well,Bush has made better choices. On September 13,2001,He insisted for undercover agents to go on every airplane around the WORLD! all the presidents (Kings and queens, too) in the world agreed. So with a secret agent on every plane,we atleast have a %99.999999 percent chance to survive if a hijacker or any other terrorist terrorizes an airplane.Well,APOLLO 13 IS ON T.V. My favorite movie! It's on "Bravo".Well,it was nice to help you!

We have learned that the American people in general have no idea what goes on in the world, that they are easily swayed by propaganda, that they do not really understand warfare. We've learned that Americans in general are selfish, 'what's in it for me' types that are really more concerned about their reality TV than what happens in the world around them. We've learned that they do not understand basic economics, that they do not know how our government functions. That they do not even know which elected official represents them in our government. We have learned that they would rather propagate propaganda and sling mud than discuss the issues.

From the war? Well, New military tactics, new weapons, and that our military is not a police force. And that happens in every war.
