My son decided to join and goes off to boot camp 9/14/07. He says after he graduates "A" school he can attend college at home and just do his weekends that they require. My concern is will he be sent to war? I'm not familiar with the military and with all these young men and women losing their lives, it seems to me that they send them out there right after they finish "A" school. Any knowledge on this to ease my mind.

I noticed that since Putin became the president of Russia,Russian military started to modernize itself rapidly....Think of MiG-31 firefox or t-90 tank...I even heard they have some space military units.What is your opinion?

I told him that I would mail him calling cards and all that good stuff he also asked to mail him cookies. Can i bake mail out and still expect for them to be good by the time he gets it? What Can I not mail? How long would it take for him to get the things?

he has told many people, including me, extravagant stories of war injuries, purple hearts, hand-to-hand combat, etc..it turns out that i was directed to look at his dd214, which says he was a storekeeper and no medals, wounds or anything. now, he is saying he degaussed ships in pearl harbor (where he says he was stationed) that he volunteered for diving school and frogman school and that he spent 2 years degaussing ships in hawaii, then went to vietnam where he (blew people up). there is nothing on the dd214 that mentions being in vietnam. it just says that he spent 3 years and 8 months at sea (does that mean on a ship?) he says he spent no time on a ship, did a lot of underwater stuff and went to jump school (again, not on dd214). could he at least be telling the truth about degaussing ships? surely something he has said about his service has a grain of truth....tired of lies. i would have respected him more if he had cleaned toilets and told the truth about it. ('61-'65)

Regardless of whether or not you agree with the war, I think it's still important to support our troops. They risk their lives on a daily basis to protect the freedoms that many of us take for granted. So, I'm curious to see what you do to show your support.
I've sent care packages. I stop every person in uniform I see, just to thank them - I frequent the DFW airport, so that's not an easy task if you've ever been there.....thank goodness for long layovers and flight delays, LOL!
I offer to buy coffee, lunch, etc for people in uniforms.
They all tell me they don't hear many people thanking them - I want to do as much as possible. Any new ideas for me?
If you're looking to insult the war or our troops, don't bother, nobody wants to hear you.

As I see, you can hunt with a camera, or with a gun, and we need to put down the camera, and pick up the gun. keep the trouble making press out of our strategy how we conduct the battle, do the job of breaking things and killing people, until the enemy hollars "uncle" Let the foreign press run their propaganda, and disemination, if they can keep up with us, and our unannounced visits of enemy destruction.

Should all the polititians send their own children to war fronts when they decide to start a war with other countries? As all old Kings were training their own kin to the best to fight and lead in front for the people!!
These days they are only earning money over selling weapons when they make wars!

So im walking in Virginia beach during memorial day along the "walk of hero's" when two "Marines" catch my attention. I see them walking along and people coming up to them and shaking there hands all telling them "thankyou for ur service" and just kept on walking all cocky. By the time they were close by a smiled and stopped them to "thank them" one was a sgt and the other a cpl. I tried to act cool but inside i was enraged and my hands started to tremble. So I ask the Sgt "hey I see you have a purple heart and you didnt recieve a combat action ribbon?" "did you go to irak or afghanistan? wheres ur sea service ribbon?" "and why the **** are ur eagle globe and anchor facing the wrong direction?" there two girls friends "girls they had just picked up" where like ...."dont hate just cause he is a marine" then I snapped. I was like ***** im a real marine and these two dumb as ses are fakes, so I wanked there ribbons and a whole fight broke out. Two cops came. Fortunately

ok, y'all. it's me again. my husband says he worked in the navy, first in hawaii (pearl harbor) degowzing (destroying electomagnetic fields) under and around ships so that the enemy couldn't detect them. none of this shows on the dd214, so i'm wondering if anyone knows what this is.
