it can take from 2 to 4 weeks or more...depends if he is at a remote FOB or a major airbase.
Did he ask you to send calling cards? I agree with the other guy, there are a lot of ways to get free ones, so see about that. He should also get some from MWR (morale organization) on occasion.
As for the cookies, yes you can send it, my biggest tip is to send them by themself otherwise they will absorb the flavors of other things in the package..for ex) someone sent cookies to us while we were deployed and they also included a bunch of candies and MINTS..omg, the cookies tasted terrible like mints and other candies!! yuck! i found a website for mailing baked goods, check it out!

Hey, Packages to Iraq generally takes about 10-16 days. I would not reccommend the bake goodies because home made goodies dont have the preservates to keep it fresh like commercial goodies. The thing I have learned about mailing stuff to Iraq is that there is no such thing as priority mail. All mail bound to Iraq gets stuffed on the same carrier planes. Now it seems to be a little more efficent but 3 years ago it would take 3-5 weeks. So dont pay extra for the hopes to shave 4 days off delivery it just doesnt work. Send it for free by taking the package to the rear detachment unit they can ship it out. Sometimes the unit will have a high ranking officer going to and from and will take it with them on the plane so its there in days.

Ask the post office about what's prohibited.
They will know.
I've sent baked cookies before, but my hubby said they were a little stale... could've been my packaging... who knows?
Better off buying store bought.
As far as how long it takes... mine usually got there in about 2-3 weeks.
Take it EZ

It can take anywhere from 10 days to 2 weeks. You can make cookies or brownies and they will still be good. Just put them in a Rubbermaid (air-tight) container. Put white bread in the container with the cookies. This will keep them fresh and chewy. My hubby always got them fresh. Also, make sure the container is closed and taped. Pack the box tight. Don't mail anything you wouldn't mail anyway like knives or explosives. This includes razors or anything sharp. Of course another "duh" would be not to mail alcohol. Just ask him what he needs or wants.

About 10 days. Check with USPS on restrictions. Put baked goods in ziplock and push air out when sealing or if you have one of those airremover sealer things. Dont buy calling cards, go to the VFW and they will send him all kinds of free calling cards and free skype.
