I am not takling sides here, I am just telling you what I know is possible. Schedules vary with different jobs and what tempo the command is in. If they are in work ups to an upcomming deployment, then they certainly will be busy and unexpected things will come up everyday. Pilots don't just fly, they have many collateral duties, debriefings, simulator time, maintenance issues, mission planning senarios, the list goes on. He may even be in charge of a certain group of enlisted and be responsible for thier duties as well. What branch of the military is he in? Relationships with military people are not easy and there is an element of trust that has to be earned and learned. You need to bring this out in the open and talk to him about it. Communication is key in a military relationship.

Y E S, this is true, a officer's job as well as an Non-Commissioned Officer's job are busy and
unpredictable, because there are things always
coming up at the last minute that has priority over
anything. Their jobs, especically in the US MILITARY, are 24/7,365/366 days and a Military pilot's job IS NOT a 9 to 5 situation.

Military officers really do have very busy schedules. My father was in the Air Force and most of his days off; if he was not doing something with the family; he was on call which meant that he was like a doctor and had to be near a telephone because in those days they didn't have beepers. I remember one time my whole family was due to leave for vacation to Florida and the secret service called (because my father worked for the White House) and we had to cancel the vacation right then. I put on such a tantrum that my parents let me go to Florida myself.

well yes in the military especially pilots may have a mission last minute or they might have something to do like flight plans training schedules and inspection times to figure out now if he is on the phone all the time he is probably trying to get a subordinate to do something right it's no B.S. they do have busy jobs.

The ASVAB stands for Armed Services Vocational Battery. It focuses in certain categories like math, grammer, problem solving, association etc. Each job has certain requirements you need to meet on the ASVAB. The higher you score generally gets you into the more technical jobs. So scoring not so high does not necessarily mean anything. It just restricts the total pool of available jobs.

Get used to it, or walk away. I am seeing a mil man, and I never see him. And he isn't a pilot, he is though working to get promoted and that takes him away and sometimes for a while, and yes they call him at crazy hours and his schedule is not his own! When you work for Uncle Sam, you really earn every buck they pay you.

well, depends on the Branch and what exactly his command is or where they are in the deployment cycle, but yes, it is possible that his work hours are hosed.

Mine has been known to have to work 60-70 hours a week while in port. Longer when underway.

Yes it is very unpredictable.....depending on the type of unit he is in. I spent a long time in a rapid deployment unit and they are the worst for being unpredictable.
