America has wanted a new government in Afghanistan since at least 1998, three years before the attacks on 11 September 2001.

Within four years the US military had overthrown the government of Afghanistan, and the construction of the Caspian Sea oil pipeline by US oil corporations had begun.

is the 'war on terror' is being used as an excuse to further US energy interests in the Caspian?

My friend made it through basic and AIT but then before he was transferred to his unit he went to his commanding officers and told them about his gambling problems and how he needed to get help right away.. They didnt do anything at first so his family contacted red cross and the red cross contacted the military and he got a 10 day leave before going to his unit... He never made it back to the army. He was been gone for two years and he went to GA for his gambling help and he searched for god and found help there... It has been 2 years AWOL and he has gotten pulled over by the cops once for a speeding ticket and went to court... He has a good job where they run a background check on him... Hes bought a house and a new car... All of this while he was AWOL... And now that hes gotten the help he has saved up money for his family while hes gone he wants to know what happens now with the AWOL and why they havent hunted him down or arrested him when he was pulled over or bought a house?????

Personally I think it was a disaster to invade Iraq (at least in the manner that we did) being that Al-Qaeda linked paramilitary groups opposed to Saddam's regime were operating in Northern Iraq. Bush should have taken this into consideration.

Anyway, Saddam has been removed and our troops are embedded in Iraq. Without a doubt it is not a stable and safe place. I hear a lot of people claim that the troops are not making it any safer and things will continue as they are if they remain.

Ragardless of whether we should have invaded or not I will agree that it is important that we examine the effect our troops are currently having on Iraq and the responsability the United States has for what happens in Iraq.

So I have to ask,
What improvements in security do we expect for the United States, Iraq and the Middle East if our troops just walk away?

Ok here is the scenario, An USAF pilot is in trouble, master caution on, possible engine fire etc., sends out a call for help, a USN fighter shows up, looks the aircraft over and comes along side the USAF fighter, gives a "thumbs up" to the pilot , and then watches in amazement as he ejects, (the story is the USAF hand signal for eject is the "thumbs up" and the USN signal for OK is the same thing). Or is this all a "tall tale" I heard in the officer's club.

Im so torn because I dont believe that the war with Iraq is justified and I truly believe that the U.S . needs to get out of Iraq. I think that Iran is much more serious situation though. Iran is saying that they have the capability to create a nuclear bomb within a years time. This is a terribly frightening thing, the idea that someone that unstable has the power to kill millions of people is absolutly terrifying. I also believe that once a country has a nuclear bomb a war with them becomes dangeriously risky. If the U.S. were to over throw a regim that had nukes wouldnt the leader be inclined to use these bombs before he was taken out of power, especially a guy like the leader of Iran. This is just such a controversial issue and I dont know how to stand on it. I think war is terrible thing and im not a war hungry America who is holds a grudge against anyone from the middle east because of sept 11. I just dont think you can wait until a nuclear bomb is used to do something.

I am not a liberal or repbulican. However, it would seem that Nancy Pelosi went to Syria and was glad-handing the Syrians. The Syrians are funding, training, and giving safe haven to those who wish to engage in the "Sunni Insurgency" within Iraq. Mainly these people who are attacking US Forces in Al-Anbar Provience Iraq are Ba'athists(a political party formed in the image of the German Nazi party), and Sunni Muslims like the Syrians so the Syrians help them any way they can with money, training, and weapons.

The 14th Amendment states
3. No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

Is there more? Or is that just something the government made up? Is there actually alien technology or even aliens over there?
