The United States engaged in Pro war propaganda in order to recruit more soldiers and to give the nation a sense of patriotism. They often depicted soldiers/Sailors/Marines as Heros (which they were) in posters and even showed housewives in predominately male roles such as building tanks and aircraft...

There has been propaganda in every war the US has been involved in. There were some great posters made to this effect. In WWII there were also a lot of movies produced.

WWI propaganda had a lot to do with recruitment, buying war bonds, conserving food and the importance of industrial and specialized labor.

Remember the "freedom fries" anti-France propaganda in the US a few years ago? Well during WWI cole slaw was called "liberty cabbage" and citizens were encouraged to plant their own fruits and vegetables so agricultural output could be sent directly to those in need.
