A lesson, because you don't always solve a problem by going in feet first. It takes an understanding you seemingly don't have.

If you want to learn something, learn that not everything you read (or write) is not necessarily what occured.

And remember, waving a white flag is not always what it seems...

In the novel and 1953 film The War of the Worlds, three men wave a white flag while trying to make first contact with the Martians.

(They are then incinerated by the Martians' Heat-Ray.)

Look, these 15 personnel were told what they were told to say by our own Govt and debriefing.

Simple as.

They were used and abused by thier own heirarchies and our own Govt.

Simple as !!

AT ANY TIME, the Govt could have slapped a D-Notice on the media. - WHY DIDN'T THEY?

AT ANY TIME, these 15 personnel could have been threatened with arrest under the Official Secrets Act - THAT EACH AND EVERY SERVICE PERSONNEL SIGNS WHEN THEY JOIN THE ARMED FORCES IN UK.

Why weren't they threatened under the OSA?

EXACTLY WHAT WERE THESE SO CALLED "EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES" that "applied ALLEGEDLY" JUST to these 15 service personnel?

IS Gordon Brown going to tax the ones who actually sold thier stories (BEAR IN MIND NOT ALL SOLD THIER STORIES).?

Is it a Govt dodge to make sure they don't have to pay out on the bonuses for those personnel serving in the Gulf today?

Is the Chancellor rubbing his hands in glee thinking about how easy it is to take candy off a baby?

Don't be surprised people if more people are being "allowed extenuating circumstances" to sell their stories... THINK ON !! It COULD be a hidden tax jaunt to benefit just the Government WHO ARE USING AND ABUSING OUR BEST ASSET - THE ARMED FORCES !!!!

Really? You are obviously another armchair critic, that has probably never served a day for queen and country in there life no doubt! Our sailors deserve medals! And most certainly dont deserve the bad publicity they have recieved. They did a fantastic job under extremely dangerous circumstances. Instead of being slated they should be commended! And as for all the armchair critics, i would like to see all of you do a 6month tour of duty in a war zone! But then i doubt the majority of you would get past day 1 of basic training. God bless all our service men and woman, not only in iraq, but afghanistan, bosnia, kosovo and northern ireland and bring them all home safe and well.

This question is a measure of the damage these sailors have done to military morale.
I'm glad they are safe but the best thing they can all do now is keep quiet and keep their heads down.
I wouldn't have wanted to be in their shoes after they were captured and can't say I would have been any more courageous, one never knows until we are in such circumstances.
What I can say with certainty is that if I were in their shoes now I'd be keeping my mouth shut and not selling my story about my failure.

You do not need to practise writing stories. You will need to learn your lines from the script provided by the government.
What a smart way of coercing service personnel into generating propaganda - get the newspapers to bribe them.
