I was in the Army Reserves, served my time and was discharged after 8 years of service. I was wondering if I am eligible for any benefits and if I can get a military id. I have a PX near me and I would like to be able to shop there. Thanks for any info you have!

Having been recently released by the Iranians, do you think that its justifiable for serving military men to be selling their story to the media? Given the current climate vis a vis the Iraqi debacle and the fact that while in capitivity, the servicemen and woman was shown on telly having a good time with their captors. Should serving soldiers seek to sell their story for a profit?

NEW YORK - In a rueful reflection on what might have been, an Iraqi government insider details in 500 pages the U.S. occupation's "shocking" mismanagement of his country — a performance so bad, he writes, that by 2007 Iraqis had "turned their backs on their would-be liberators."

"The corroded and corrupt state of Saddam was replaced by the corroded, inefficient, incompetent and corrupt state of the new order," run by President Bush Ali A. Allawi concludes in "The Occupation of Iraq.
Allawi writes with authority as a member of that "new order," having served as Iraq's trade, defense and finance minister at various times since 2003. As a former academic, at Oxford University before the U.S.-British invasion of Iraq, he also writes with unusual detachment.

The U.S and British-educated engineer and financier is the first senior Iraqi official to look back at book length on his country's four-year ordeal. Bush has made a terrible mistake. His troops have died for nothing.

HAPPY EASTER CHRISTIANS...

Still waiting for the parade in Iraq for the invading forces.

How many rapes and murders of 14 yr old, murders of 5 yr old and parents to hide the rape and murders are too many? Coup de grac eis setting the bodies on fire and hiding the crime until the murder gets out of the service??? Are these soldiers or evil satanic maggots fighting for the USA? It is clear who is out of their hometown. Kill and rape back in the USA. 14 yr old, 5 yr old, parents of the murdered girls set on fire.

HAPPY EASTER.

Was there ever a time when people wouldn't confess? In all the movies I see of World War II, people suffer terrible torture and just die.

Is this just based on a few heroic incidents, or perhaps Hollywood fantasy, or was there a time of extreme bravery?

And the books, did they exaggerate? Or have troops always been ordinary people?

for cowardice? and not putting up a fight? Instead of being rewarded for their safe capture and quick release with millions of dollars in book deals.

Is this fair to those who fight to the death for the country?

They don't want us there, the majority of Americans don't want us there, it has nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks, the real war on terror or American security.

Someone, anyone - why are we there?

I'm ashamed to be a military veteran from the years 1969 to 1975. The Americans (Back in those years ) treated me like a low life and now looking back I now know why. The USA government made the young men in uniform do deeds that made jesus cry and for that I want to say to the world "I'm ashamed I served the USA Government". I had to get a job shoveling horse crap out of barns just to get my dignity back after I left the service. Now we are making another mistake over Iraq and to the brave insurgents I say I'm sorry.

i mean we all know why we went into Iraq in the first place, right? i mean we know it was so the chinese who were going to deal directly with saddam, not get their hands on the 2nd largest oil supplier. if they did that we would lose all control. but now that we see the pain and suffering it's causing why don't we just pull out; or are we really that thick skinned and are actually able to sleep at night knowing that we have sent our kids there to kill or be killed on an economic issue, Why????????/
