ok I think you mean Iraq. First we got into the war because of fighting Al-Quaida, the people responsible for 9-11. Then we realized that unless Saddam Hussein was taken out of the picture, real progress could not take place in Iraq. We are still there because there are still insurgents fighting against our efforts. To pull out of Iraq now would be a mistake because the insurgents would just be there to take over again once our troops left. If we left before the job was done it would be like all the people who died there and fought for us died for no reason. That's why we have to stay until the insurgents are all gone. Then the people of Iraq can go about the business of running their country. Right now we are trying to get the people to form a police and an organized Army. But these insurgents are telling the people "if your sons join the police" or "if you vote, we'll kill your whole family." Real progress cannot take place there until all the insurgents are gone.

Most likely we invaded the Middle East for the oil cartels here and perhaps in Saudi Arabia. In Afghanistan we let Osam Ben Laden go but made sure we secured an oil pipeline across that country. (Al Qida had visited the White House but would not allow the pipeline.) Bush did it so easily and with complete support of the American people, his administration thought it would be a piece of cake to take over Iraq and their oil reserves.
Thos of us who were in contact with Iraqi citizens before the invasion knew the outcome because Iraqi's had told us. But the media, controlled by corporations that etiher benifitted directly or indirectly from war, all supported our invasion and ballyhooed the excuses for war that we and most of the world, not in shock over 9/11, knew were false.
Now we are in the middle of a civil war and Bush adminsitration doesn't want to give up the oil it sacrificed so many Americans for. Iraq has had enough of us and all factions are fighting us now.
At this time there is no "good" way to end this war except just to leave and hopefully, one day,. we will put our pride away loing enough to learn from our mistakes and not go invading countries to create empire for the benifit of a very few over the sacrifice of so very many.

The US has a police action in iraq currently. We went over because there was firm evidence from both the Clinton Admin and the CIA that they had WMD, plus he was a evil ruler, and also we needed a military base in the middle east and this was a very good central area.
We are there now because thier elected government wants us there to try and help secure thier nation from extremists.

because that is where the bad guys are. But the Us needs to watch places like the Philippines. I may not agree with all of bushes decicisions but if we pull out of iraq we will doom our country. We are still bickering about viet nam and history is about to rewpeat itsself. Pulling out of viet nam destroyed both countries. Does it matter who our president is when the press has trashed all our presidents sinse Nixen was president. The press is doing the pr now and always will. Do you think you can talk to the bad guys. They are saying they want to kill all that do not fit their belife system. They even kill the moderate muslems. Osama is reading all this anti war crap and saying check mate. try to talk to him not hearing what he is saying. You will return to the US head in hand wondering what you said. Shut up and listen

Attempted assassination of our President.
Constant games with the U.N. while claiming complete cooperation (which the U.N. made clear was a lie) and while claiming to their allies that they were making fools of the West and the U.N. because they still had WMDs and were making more (whether it was true or not).
Constantly breaking the cease-fire (we never declared peace after their invasion of Kuwait and attacks on our troops). They continued to shoot at our planes over the agreed no-fly zone and did not live up to the cease-fire in almost any way.
The fact that we killed a dictator that kept peace by ruthlessly killing anyone who disagreed with him was a bonus, but not a reason to break the sovereignity of a country.
Amazing how the liberals, seditious, and socialists want to narrow it down to one thing. I'm a democrat. An amazing number of us are NOT crazy or in blinders. It's just that we've been silent too long against the vocal crazies.
We're coming back.
