Each of the services provide tuition assistance, discipline and time to figure out what you what to do. I am a former army officer and finished my Master while on active duty using the in service GI Bill....but we weren't at war when I served.

If you plan to start taking some grad school courses before you leave the service I would pick the USAF and not the Army...soldiers are called up or shipped out to Iraq at greater numbers that the USAF.

The USN would also be a good choice if you wanted to takes some classes on active duty. While you could be assigned ship duty and deploy for 6 months or more....depending on your rating (MOS) the odds are pretty low.

Which every branch you select good luck and stay safe.

PS......Since you have you have your BA...Officer Candidate School is an option to consider. I went to OCS right out of college for my commission....that's why I enlisted. Talk to each branches recruiter about the idea. If you want to ask questions about Army OCS without going to a recruiter you can ask questions of men & women currently in OCS and OCS grad on active duty. Go to www.armyocs.com and logon as a visitor...instruction will be listed.

1. Hardest to join would be Air Force... standards are very strict... 2. Easiest.. I would have to say Army because they would be willing things that the others will not. You will still need to take and pass the ASVAB... Army will take a 31... others want a 50 3. They all receive training 4. Hardest training... Marines... not even up for debate... recruit training far surpasses every other branch.. very strict, structured and intense. 5. Army has ridiculously long deployments... at one point, people were deploying for 15-18 months (i had friends who did it.. ridiculous) Recently they have been dropped to 12 months, and supposedly by Jan they will be 9 months. 6. Air Force.. they rarely deploy and if they do its like 3-6 months 7. ALL ARE PAID THE SAME... dont let anyone tell you otherwise 8. You have a high chance of being killed by driving in your car... so this is a moot question 9. ALL 10. If you like being pushed to the max, want the hardest recruit training, want to be held to near perfection on standards, appearance, and everything else... become a MARINE! 11. You might think you want to be a Marine... but you should still speak to recruiters of all branches. I never hear a Marine say that wanted to join the Marines to travel, or school... they join because they want to be a Marine. My brother is in the Navy because he wanted to travel... my husband is a Marine because he couldnt picture himself being anything else.

Are you looking to pay off your student loan or have your current and future tuition paid? I am a bit confused as you state you have a BA in communication which implies you have already graduated but then say you need help paying for your tuition?

Either way, I would first talk to the ROTC office on campus and see what each branch can offer you. That way, you can see what each has to offer and see which one would be the best fit for you in terms of paying your current/future tuition and/or student loan(s) and the type of job you would being performing in the service.

If you already have your degree then you would most likely go in as an officer. If you do not have your degree then enlisted would be one way to go with ROTC as another option.

If you are looking for a break from going to college with an insurance hedge for going back at a latter time, then it would all depend on what you like to do.

Army - Currently, overseas deployments with direct combat or combat support the most likely entry points. If you like camping, hunting, camping and "roughing-it" then this might be for you. Some MOS have direct non-military applications but many require you to be creative when creating your resume for the transition. Downside is that it can be boring or harsh if you just "join" as open and get placed into a slot you do not like (11B - Infantry) and you were hoping for Media Newscaster.

Navy - Ship deployments with fewer combat operations in general for most enlisted. If you like to learn a specific trade that has similar non-military applications and be "away from it" for months at a time then this might be for you. Downside - months at a time on a ship.

Air Force - Little direct combat operations for majority of enlisted. Most fields and trades are have a higher tech slant than other services/fields. Overall, the best quality of life provided by any of the services. Downside-stricter rules and/or enforcement. Smaller college bonus/incentives. Up-side-location, women, drinking, etc.

Coast Guard/Marines: Special services that expand and combine the different services pro's and con's. Coast Guard similar to the Navy, but has many of the advantages of the Air Force due to local "tour" length and locations. San Diego and Hawaii as prime examples... Marines-SEMPER FI! If you want to belong to something and be torn down and built back up then this would probably be a good starting point... :)

Anyway, just go and visit your ROTC or Armed Services recruiting station and you should find more than enough assistance there!

Enlist in the Navy and choose the MC rating (Mass Communication Specialist) if you want to stay in your education field. It is a hard rating to get though. You could also consider the officer route and become a Navy Public Affairs Officer. There is lots of discipline throughout the Navy and as a junior officer the senior officers will more than keep you in line. Not sure what programs the officer community has for loan repayment, but I know going enlisted you can choose college loan repayment as part of your contract specifics.

Shaleena, no matter which route you take...all come with the same guarantee and that being, if you apply yourself, you will be a success.

As for getting help for your tuition, just a suggestion, go to the horses mouth. Go to the recruiters...all of them and ask them what they can offer. You will have many avenues you can travel with in communications.

One field in Air Force/Army or Navy could be Air Traffic Control. Come prepared with good study ethics and a healthy dose of common sense. That was my field in USAF.As far as saying which branch is best....ALL perform jobs that are needed in protecting our country.

Best of luck in your future decisions and undertakings. If you can get into OCS, go that route.Once again, thank you Sheleena for considering service to our country.

Go Special Forces, you will join a group of soldiers that not only lead the way, but most of the new soldiers, have a least a bachelors or more. Then again, if you want to take the wimpy route, join the Navy or USAF, they are good at what they do. Make sure that you start setting up your pedicures from the time you enlist though, I heard that it takes awhile to get one of their post.
