We have that serious face because by the time the pictures are taken, we are about 60% through boot camp and the pride, discipline, and swagger are beginning to show through. I remember my photo from basic ... I was NOT smiling. Nor was any one else ... well at least not that i have scene. Maybe you are seeing all the non combat guys who go to places like Ft. Jackson. Go look at some from Ft Knox and Benning before you say we ALL are smiling.
