I will be leaving for bootcamp tomorrow. I have a list of things that are acceptable to bring with me. However, I have been told by a recent graduate that it doesn't matter because whatever I bring will be taken away whether it is on the list or not. Does anyone know if this is true....and how it works. Where you allowed to keep the things you brought...such as, small shampoo, toothpast, deoderant, tampons, bras, ect....
Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Suppose that you were in charge. And you were getting ready to go to invade Iraq a few years ago. Forget the intelligence blunder/scandal. Let's just say that you were going to invade regardless.

How could things have been handled differently? How could we have won?

Send 600,000 troops? Spend ten times the money? Do more preparation on the ground prior to military action?

What would you have done differently? How could we have won this war if we had it to do all over again?

I

Look Mr. I uderstand the hurt of our vets. I like all others joined voluntarily. I knew what I was getting myself into. I will never excpect any American to run and give me thanks. I will never want pitty from anyone. I like alot of others do it for the country and those who are not able or willing. The Country is in a world of hurt right now. It is a time when we all as Americans need to unite and be one great nation. I love the country. Why? Because Ive been to about 5 different countries. None of them have what we have. When kids cry to you asking you to take them with you, and women want to be with you withh the hopes of Coming to America it is then you realize that you have it good here in the States. That is why I love to fight for this great Country that gives so much. So much that people are spoiled and never realize how good they have it never once think how it would be if they lived in another country.

Wanna vote, have kids or go to college for free. Serve your time in the Military. Service guarantees citizenship. Of course then liberals would never win squat in elections again. SWEET

If you are building a house, and it is taking forever to build, you don't blame the person paying for the house to be built, you blame the contractor building it.
President Bush, the USA, isn't the blame for the lack of victory, it is the US Military that is lagging behind in victory.

Explain to me why these big super powers such as UK, the US, Japan, and China allowing little tiny Iraq and Afgan intimidate them?? Why don't we just blow them away?? We have the military power to do so. And yet we keep catering to them hoping "They will be wise and get diplomatic like the US" while they blow our soldiers away!!
I mean we act like scared little puppies who have been abused around them. The US showed Japan (who is bigger than iraq) they weren't going to take their crap with dropping the atom bomb and Japan showed they weren't afraid of the US with the attack of Peral Harbor.
And all of the superpowers are just basically rolling over and playing dead with Iraq and Afagn. Am I missing something here??

I am considering joining the Navy at age 28. It's a decision I'm not sure about yet, but I did walk into a recruiter's office last week to learn more.
I ended up taking the ASVAB on my second visit to the office, and scored a 95 (out of 99).
Now, the recruiter's trying to rush me to go to MEPS, and reserve my job...to enroll in the DEP (Delayed Entry Program).
I'm not ready to make a decision about joining yet.
I don't want to be pressured by my recruiter, but I would like to learn more about jobs.
I've been told that when I go to MEPS, they'll drug test me, do a complete physical, then I'll sit with Classifiers who will talk to me about job options.
My understanding is that I HAVE TO choose a job after I speak with these Classifiers.
I don't want to be forced to choose a job on the spot that day.
I want time to think about it before I commit, to make sure I am making the right decision.
Do I have to choose on that day?

How do I get my recruiter to listen to me and not rush me?

I'm an intelligent woman who was a straight-A student & should be doing more with her life than working in the restaurant business.
I'm 28 yrs old, and a college drop-out. I should never have left college, because I'm intelligent (top 10% of my class), and value education.
I love to travel & have a high aptitude for languages.

At this point in my life, it's time to get serious. I believe 4 yrs in the Navy could get me places that 4 yrs on my own wouldn't lead me to right now.
I don't really have any reason to NOT join. Maybe a fear of dying, but I believe the Navy places me at less risk.
I am ready for a challenge, and want to invest my time wisely.
But what if I hate it and am miserable?

I'm a smart cookie, and I think I'm wasting my brain and my talents by just living life as please.
I got a 95 on my ASVAB entrance exam & am interested in becoming a CTI (Interpreter) which means I'd go to Defense Language Inst. in Monterey for training.
Please help me with my decision. Thank you!
