I have recently joined the army but I haven't went away to basic yet, so I was wondering, which of the post ot forts are deployed the most. I want to choose the right place to live. I've heard if you choose an overseas place you have a higher chance of beng deployed..Is that true?

Uhmm, did we really have to have the Virginia shootings before it occured to anyone that unlockable doors were a safety hazard to these people? Yet again, we see stupid military tradition trouncing common sense. Tradition doesn't make something good, people; more likely it just means that a lame activity has been carried on for an extra long period of time.

I just returned from Egypt the end of March. I was at a drs. clinic and the dr., in conversation told me the USA is offering green cards to Egyptian men that are young and healthy is this really true? He stated that they must agree to a certain time of service and that there are no benefits for them even if injured or killed until their initial time of service is completed. It sounds absurd to me. I looked at him very puzzled. He with a very serious face said he had been at the USA Embassy in Cairo and had himself witnessed the visa being given. Can anyone guide me to how I find out if this is our current policy, is there any truth to this story?

BAGHDAD - Nine U.S. soldiers were killed and 20 wounded Monday in a suicide car bombing against a patrol base northeast of the capital in Diyala province, a volatile area that has been the site of fierce fighting, the military said. The Military ( Army and Marines ) state the insurgents are tough fighting men and not dead enders as Bush stated 4 year ago.

The attack came on a day when insurgents struck across Iraq, carrying out seven other bombings that killed at least 48 people.

Of the 20 wounded in the attack on Task Force Lightning in Diyala, 15 soldiers were treated and returned to duty while five others were evacuated to a medical facility for further care, the military said. An Iraqi civilian was also wounded. However the war supporters in the United States says the war is going as planned.

I am reading "The Warrior Elite", which goes in depth into the BUD/S training for Class 228, and it mentions that the instructors (these particular ones enlisted) have college degrees. I found it strange.

Just curious.

During his second tour of duty, my cousin who is a marine, was so excited to go back into "action" and make more money. That changed as soon as he got back and now he discusses how pathetic our presence in Iraq has become. All this and now we are buildings walls, mocking the very stability we claimed to bring to Iraq? When will the Bush administration learn (I ask that retorihcally) that our Second Vietnam was lost the day it began. Now we are going to mimic the intial instigating measure that devide Germany for so long? Why does this administration repeatidly ignore history as well as common sense? This is the begining of the end of Iraq. This administrations policies are no longer humours however they are most definetly still a joke. Why the HELL are we repeating history over and over and over agian? The worst has yet to come... I pray for the soldiers in Iraq, who should have never of been sent there in the first place. History is going to NAIL Bush for everything the press has not.

half mast for all of our men and women who have been killed during this war, but yet we fly it half mast for everyone else???? Does anyone else feel that we should leave our flags half mast until our men and women are home safely from this dreaded war. I thought that I was the only one who felt this way until I read that someone in the news today felt the same way too! It is sad that students were killed at Virginia Tech. But what about the 3200 plus Americans who were killed and are still being killed in this war. Where is the flag flying in their honor????

It has been more then 4 years. It takes 5 month to train US troops, we could have trained all the Iraqis in the world. There is no military solution for this, only political. (or build a big wall between them ; e.g. split the country in three - but it would not be Iraq anymore , would it? )

May fifth (cinco de mayo) is a national holiday in Mexico. Do you know why? Back in the year 1862, a French army of 6,000 well-armed men invaded Mexico, led by General Laurencez. The excuse was that Mexico owed money to their country and could not pay it right then. But they were also allied with the Mexican conservatives to overthrow the liberal government of President Juárez and found an empire. General Ignacio Zaragoza faced these forces in the city of Puebla with only 4,000 poorly-equipped men with little training. Laurencez was so sure of his superiority that he attacked the Mexican army head on as a sign of his contempt. This mistake cost the lives of one thousand Frenchmen on that battlefield. Zaragoza defeated them and make them retreat. Although this did not stop them, and the Empire of Maximilian was founded in our country, the event had great impact. Each year, we commemorate that battle on the fifth of May.

I mean by so many right wing conservatives here on Yahoo's logic. Shouldn't we be killing anyone in the U.S. who is liberal, why go to Iraq when you really feel the real enemy is here?
Did your dummy king invade the wrong people again?

We should fly our flags 1/2 mast when a solider dies. They are heroes defending our Country and its freedoms.

What do you think?

""Wilt suggested that flags should fly at half-staff on the base where the fallen service member was working and in the states where they hail from. He said some states do this, but not all of them.""
