I have recently joined the army but I haven't went away to basic yet, so I was wondering, which of the post ot forts are deployed the most. I want to choose the right place to live. I've heard if you choose an overseas place you have a higher chance of beng deployed..Is that true?

Ok, I have another question..As far as living conditions is concerned and space is concerned..Where is the best place to live? In the Army you get to choose three places in the states and one overseas place. I am not the type of person to put off something, I am not going to do my basic first and then thinking about this, I'd rather be thinking about it while I am doing my basic..Thank you all for your answers.

Princess...Ft Stewart doesnt deploy, 3rd ID does. And secondly, they dont deploy every few months, but every other year usually. Quartermaster and MPs deploy at different times than the rest of 3rd ID.
We love Ft Stewart, but my husband likes to deploy....he likes to go do the job he was trained to do instead of sitting around garrison. He isnt a garrison soldier.
So if you dont mind deploying, Ft Stewart, Ft Campbell, Bragg, Lewis, Riley, Hood, Carson. Of course, I dont know what your MOS will be, but if you like to deploy, go for one of those. Good luck!

It's not really the "post" or "forts" that are deployed. It's the unit. Like 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th ID and so on. Take for example the 1st, they have 2 brigades at Ft. Riley, KS and 1 in Germany (I think). They will usually deploy a BCT at a time. That's how the Army is deployed, by a brigade combat team (BCT)...Hope this helps..

Your right about a lot of basis over seas being deployed, mainly because their more often than not closer to the action. I would not care to venture a guess about bases over seas but I do the most active stateside Forts are Ft. Bragg, Airborne, Ft. Lewis, Special Forces and Ranger units and Ft. Bliss, Tanks and artillery. I hope this answers your question and thank you for serving.

Ft. Campbell, Bragg, Lewis, Riley, Drum. Fort Campbell is one of my favorite places, probably because I was born and raised there. But it's about 11/2 from Nashville, Tn and the towns around there are very military friendly. My dad and husband have walked into places and there have been people that offer to buy you drinks or pay for your dinner.
