half mast for all of our men and women who have been killed during this war, but yet we fly it half mast for everyone else???? Does anyone else feel that we should leave our flags half mast until our men and women are home safely from this dreaded war. I thought that I was the only one who felt this way until I read that someone in the news today felt the same way too! It is sad that students were killed at Virginia Tech. But what about the 3200 plus Americans who were killed and are still being killed in this war. Where is the flag flying in their honor????

To gary b.....If you would have taken real time to read what I asked, you would have seen very clearly that I stated that I was not the only one who asked the same questions. But as far as anyone on this site asking the same one, I have no idea. Your answer and comment was the most ridiculous I have every seen, and can tell that you are a person who has to blab out of your mouth before you even hear or read the full question, be it this one or as I am sure, any other one too!

I agree that we should fly our flag at half mast every day, not only to honor the fallen American soldiers, but as a daily reminder of the needless sorrow and shame that is being visited upon our nation. The 3200 plus dead is not even counting the many thousands that, as a result of wounds received in Iraq, died in a hospital in Germany or another country to where they were evacuated. The reason it is not federally mandated that we fly the flag at half-mast is for the same reason the government made such a big deal about being shown pictures of flag-draped coffins. The less we are reminded of the ongoing horror, the better.

As an individual who has been oversea and seen the flag draped coffins pass by me. I respectfully disagree. Nothing makes me prouder then to see a flag flying at full staff. A sign that we the greatest nation on earth are standing full and strong. The flags overseas are lowered for one hour after someone dies. I fell that this would be acceptable. But the most important part is getting Old Glory back up for everyone to see.
