I have 3 questions that are bugging me.
1. My boyfriend left for 3 months at AIT. We talked for the first time yesterday in 3 months. Now he says, he has another month. Why is that? Should'nt he have known before he even got there?
2. He also said... he went over seas, to Germany for a month. For some type of mission. How can that be when he's not finished AIT?
3. This one is sorta silly. I know people cheat - anywhere. He told me he hasnt. But how can I be so sure, any clues?

Next time I talk to him, should I ask him this? I dont like to bug him about this stuff.

Do they still use them or have they come up with a replacement?

I know the B-52 is still in use, but for a start, that had jet engines, and has constantly been upgraded, whereas I can't imagine Russia constantly upgrading a propellor driven plane.

And what does that say about us as people? I read some of the comments on other questions re the war and there were so many saying" we have not killed enough of them" or " we are there trying to make them humane". It sounds very nazi to me. What makes people write such ugly idiotic stuff?

I was diagnosed with depression 6 years ago, and have been on medication for it off and on since then. I'm looking into joining the military and according to most sources, there isn't any way to get around this diagnosis unless I've been off the meds for at least 1 year. I'm pretty sure I need the meds; I feel a whole lot better and function better when on them. So far I've only looked into the Army, any one know if it's any different with other branches? Thanks!

I'd like to find out what the Army's Basic Training program is like, because I'm interested in going through it.

Here's the catch. I don't want to be a soldier. I want to be in the U.S. Army Field Band. I'm a musician, and I like the benefits that the Army band provides. Still, even to play trombone for them, they require you to go through the 8-9 week basic training program, and I'm not sure that I'd survive. I haven't even played a sport since 8th grade.

I went to the goarmy website, but the only specifics about physical ability that I could find were an 8.5 minute mile time, and the ability to make it through a 15km march by the end of the program.

So, I'd like to hear a bit more. How many pushups/situps would I have to do at a time? In a day? How often and how far do they make you run? How much sleep/downtime you you get? What about weights and lifting?

Anything you could tell me about the physical requirements (and recommendations) would be appreciated.

For sheer stupidity and naivete I assume the overconfidence of trying to occupy a fair-sized country halfway around the world without making a serious commitment of military resources to secure law and order from the outset takes the cake, but I'm not a student of history so....

Please limit nominees to examples of specific, more-or-less single decisions where "they should have known better, obviously", i.e. any basic considerations of probable outcomes/problems seems to have been missing...no minor battlefield decisions or long-term strategic mistakes please...to give an example or two of what I have in mind, the Vietnam War isn't a good choice since a reasonable person might have underestimated Vietcong resilience and superiority in a jungle environment; Hitler opening a second front with the USSR might be closer to outright stupid. And sorry Bushlovers but Iraq is obviously a contender.
