Do they still use them or have they come up with a replacement?

I know the B-52 is still in use, but for a start, that had jet engines, and has constantly been upgraded, whereas I can't imagine Russia constantly upgrading a propellor driven plane.

The TU-95 is still in service and it has seen quite a few upgrades.

Bear in mind however that Russia has quite a number of other bombers- the Backfire and the Blackjack being the most prominent (albeit not the only ones)

BTW turbo-propeller engines are the most fuel efficient. Considering that these planes were armed with stand-off missles with a range of 250 miles (early version) this engine choice made much sense.

Why can you not imagine Russia upgrading a propeller driven plane? For one, they have 8 time zones to fly over. Two, Propeller driven planes are more fuel efficient. Three, the B-52 was a propeller driven plane originally.

No, do no longer subject approximately it. even in spite of the incontrovertible fact that extra beneficial than a million/2 of Russians are Soviet nostalgic, they have no purpose to % Soviet Union back, nor the government. there's a Communist party in Russia nevertheless in spite of the undeniable fact that it would not advise Russia is turning out to be u.s. back. the government of Russia would not think of that turning out to be u.s. back is an common attempt. this is puzzling because of the fact the rustic is so capitalistic now! Russians are certainly extra unfastened than some Western international places! i think of youthful generations in Russia will cope with this new government extra beneficial than the older generations!:)

The Tupolev TU-95 bomber is still in service. Russian military rely more on simple equipment than advanced technology as there is less to go wrong and it easier to fix when does go wrong! Unlike American who say we must develop this and that to make it easier for war they kid themselves!!
