There will never be complete peace in the Middle East.
Their main fight is about a religion & has gone on for centuries. Much like Ireland with the Catholics & Protestants.
That said, it does not mean the world can set back while one group eradicates another.
In Iraq, the war can be won if the military is allowed to run it's campaign as planned. My son is an Army Ranger & Officer and he assured me this weekend that the war will be won & soon. Within the year - without something majorly unforseen happening. He leaves for 15 months next month. His men are prepared & ready to win.

Wow, awesome question that nobody can answer. The way I have started to look at the Middle East and are Western idea that they can be at peace as unified countries is to compare that to the idea that the Native Americans could have been a unified nation regardless of tribe. Not a reality. Now, I don't think that we should wipe them out and put them on reservations like what happended to the Native Americans, but I think we should let them settle their own differences and allow them to redraw the map as we know it. I am predicting that their will be a country named Kurdistan in the future. I think that Iraq will end up divided by ethinic groups. We might not like it, but maybe that is what they need. When you talk to an Iraqi soldier, you will hardly ever hear that he is an Iraqi, you will hear where he is from, what religion he is, and who his tribal loyalties belong to. I can not remember a single soldier that I talke to who did not respond in this manner. Our idea of Iraq works for us and our needs, it doesn't seem to fit into their plans for their country. It is chaos right now, and will be into the forseeable future, all I can hope for is that at some point, they will be able to see some sort of real freedom. I used to tell myself when I was there that if only a handful of this generation of Iraqis manage to taste freedom, then it will be worth it. I pray that the generation of tommorrow is able to see freedom and have other choices to make than blind obedience to fanatics that don't really care about their religion or their people but use it as a tool to try and gain power for themselves. Their only hope for the future is freedom and education. The freedom of choice to make your own way in life religiously, economically, and morally is the only thing that will ever bring these people to peace.

The answer is time. There won't be any peace in the middle east until tribes of different religions stop killing each other for all the power. That will take a lot of time.........

The "Coalition of the Willing", the foreign forces that invaded Iraq and that keep an Iraqi "government in power that continues to hand over Iraq's national resources to Western multi-national companies that benefit from the occupation, should be replaced by an international UN-led brigade consisting principally of soldiers from Arab and Muslim countries. Such a force would envision a peaceful, prosperous and independent Iraq and would promote a strong Iraqi national security force before completely withdrawing.
The Israeli-Palestinian conflict would be resolved by Israel adopting the Saudi peace plan - integration of Israel into the Middle East family of nations, in exchange for withdrawal of Israeli forces from the territories conquered in 1967 including East Jerusalem, the Golan Heights and the Shebaa Farms. Israel would formally apologise for the suffering caused to three generations of exiled Palestinians and would participate in an international UN assisted resettlement of Palestinian refugees into the newly recognised independent State of Palestine consisting of East Jerusalem, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip Strip.
The Palestinians of Lebanon should be allowed to choose between acquiring resettlement in and adopting citizenship of Palestine, Jordan, Syria's Golan Heights, or Israel's Galillee region.
Those Palestinians from Lebanon who chose resettlement in Galillee would acquire Israeli citizenship but part of the Galillee would become an autonomous Palestinian region of Israel. Those settlements of Jewish colonies in the West Bank would also be offered a choice of resettlement in Israel or becoming Palestinian citizens in an autonomous Judean region of Palestine that would mirror the spacial, demographic and political conditions in the autonomous Palestinian Galillee region of Israel.
The separate security forces of Israel, Palestine, Judea and Galillee would contribute to a Bi-national Israeli-Palestinian military force for protecting the borders mutually recognised with countries surrounding Israel (including Galillee) and Palestine (including Judea).
In the decades to come , if referenda in Jordan, Palestine and Israel agreed, a Federation of Palestine, Israel and Jordan could be concluded. Further decades down the track, referenda in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and the states and emirates of the Gulf of Arabia could consider the possibility of a wider Middle East Federation that would provide autonomy for its Kurdish-speaking and Hebrew-speaking regions.

The history of the region has always been war. It will take convincing them that nuclear weapons will be used to stop these "children" from fighting.
Kind of like when the parent brings out the belt! But the parent had better be willing to use it!

There is none, never has been, never will be. As long as humans exist there will be disagreements, over property, religion, politics, whatever, and there will always be people who will try and use force to impose their will on others, and other who will use force to resist. War is part of life, we just have to deal with it on a case by case basis.
